Bombproof and highly waterproof gear that is core.

Whassup boogers. I'm in the market for a new kit. Currently run a tired flylow baker bib and a random flylow jacket that I don't know the name of. Even after applying waterproofing treatments they still leak and get juicy up here in the pnw. I love the fit and ruggedness/ durability. Ate shit over exposure and smashed all the rocks on the way down and they are no worse for wear. Perfection. Also, fairly loud and bright colors are a must for me. Idk why, they fun. So far I have looked into Stellar, norrana and haglofs. All have the beefy feeling material that I'm looking for and pass the water test with flying colors. If there is anything I missed or if y'all have some suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks

Trew or 686 would be the most core pick. Dakine and Quiksilver aren’t exactly core but both make accessible Gore-Tex gear and have had good ski teams forever.

Mountain hardware shells r mad cheap and usually goretex. U can get them on sale all the time too. I got a 900$ shell for 300$ and it’s lasted me so many years with no tears or leakage, super light weight and just as waterproof as the day I bought it. Also has hella cool internal pockets and straps for beacons, phones etc…

not “core” but honestly who gives af. It looks sick and has outperformed any other shells I’ve owned. Arcteryx can kick rocks

I have one of mountain hardwear’s insulated ski jackets that’s not gore tex and it’s been great. I only need one base layer and other than super wet snow or rain it’s been great. I’ve had it for 3 seasons and it looks new. The price point to quality for their stuff is among the best I think. I have a plain puffy and multiple sleeping bags of theirs too that have been good

Mountian hardware is flaming asscheeks. I had one of their jackets a while ago and I remember it getting soaked and just icky nasty. It was a low end one and not a shell.

Looked at the "VIV" jacket and the model is wearing a medium and is allegedly 6'2. XL should be hella steeze. I always grab the big bois.

Damn I’ve never had any bad experiences with them. Definitely my go to outdoor brand.

I’d definitely get a a goretex model if u have concerns cuz at the very least u know ur getting great waterproofing.

Get a better flylow jacket if you don't already have the quantum or lab coat or their top tier jackets. I have the quantum pro and frequently ski in the rain, it keeps me dry. I've had it for like 4-5 years.

Waterproof?

If you’re not walking up, then a motorcycle rain onesie from an op-shop. If you sweat hard then you’ll still get wet though. True waterproof goes both ways.
