SlushSeasonYeah, that's a string of words i never thought I'd say. But when the "right" house comes along and it happens to have a crumbling a pool from the 80s...

skiermanLOL no, you're an impatient fuck who purchased a house blind without inspection. Prove me wrong.
SlushSeasonI had an inspection. The house has been mostly fine for 3 years. A bunch of things broke all at once this year. I came here to vent to other homeowners and ask if anybody else ever misses the simplicity of renting.
I'm sorry Skierman, we can't all live in yurts/our mother's basement.

JmckRBack on topic..kinda
handed my notice in at my new job today. Only been there 10 weeks, but i had an offer out of the blue and I had already decided the current place is not for me. I don’t really like the work, most of the people or the old and dirty office blocks. Would’ve been the easiest decision ever, but my manager (who gave me the job) is a genuinely nice guy and we really got along, so I feel like I’m almost letting him down and kinda awful for putting him through the whole hiring process again so quickly.
My time in Canada has been a wild ride so far.

JmckRUpdate:
100% made the right decision. What I didn't mention on this last post is that I'm extremely tight for money and have been for a long time, due to some rather silly financial mistakes. So even though I hated the job, it was a safe gig and I was finally earning decent money and feeling more comfortable, so leaving it into a new role in a new company was taking a leap of faith.
But yes, 3 months into my new job at it's going great. Loads more variety, better people and overall nicer work environment (literally speaking, the last place was kind of a shithole). I've worked in the oil sands too and going back again in September so earning extra $ bank for the field work too.
SlushSeasonI'm not quite 30, but I've owned a house in the suburbs for a couple years, so I definitely feel like a 30 year-old. Does anybody else here miss the simplicity of renting? Everything in my house seems to be breaking this year and I'm envious of my friends that still rent and just don't have to deal with this stuff themselves. I'd rather spend my evenings being active or social rather than trying to fix a HVAC board/sprinkler system/pool filter.
My house is way bigger than i need but that comes with more stuff to maintain. There's an endless list of things that i should be working on, so i feel guilty "wasting" my time playing videogames or hanging out at a brewery, etc. I know it's a good investment so I'll definitely keep my house, but I'm starting to think about handing it off to a property manager, renting it out, and moving to an apartment in the city.
GayWolf420I turn 29 this year but id like to eventually start my own sort-of Landscaping/Hardscape Construction business or something in my 30's hopefully. Idk. Or maybe get more serious about being an EMS provider. Its a weird feeling not having your shit together sometimes.

hi_vis360I think you guys are exaggerating how difficult dating is past 25. It’s obviously way harder than being in college, but as long as you have a steady job, are in good shape, and generally have your shit together, it will work out. Maybe it’s different in the northeast but there are lots of 30 year old women without kids here.
My gf tells me some wild dating horror stories from her friends though. Dudes who are clearly suffering from mental illness but won’t go to therapy, still drink like they are in college, are immature and super insecure, shit like that. You can get away with that stuff in your 20s, but you gotta have it together a bit by the time you’re 30. I’m not saying you need to own a big house and make six figures, you just need to be a functioning adult and know what you’re looking for in a relationship. Also women in their 30s are not trying to waste time, if you are unsure about having kids you need to figure that out ASAP. Which kinda ties in with the general theme of my rant here, you need to know yourself and know what you’re looking for. I struggled for a few years through my late 20s but once I figured out those two things I pretty much immediately met someone and now we have been together for a year and a half, going to move in together soon

maaatttTho children and pets at breweries is a separate discussion on its own lol

eheath9/10 times i go to a brewery, it is with my friends and their children haha
maaatttIt for sure can be chill and fine, but only if the brewery has set their space up for it. I've been to some that are just not kid friendly and family friendly while allowing children, and others that are obviously set up to be family friendly.
The place I mentioned with the girl and her shit dog was not one of the places that was set up well for families
The referenced post has been removed.
JmckR“Shit dog” got me haha. What breed? It’s usually the smaller ones that have an attitude lol
eheathsorry that was a little aggressive for this thread, but for real let's keep the politics to the politics threads, and keep this a pure thread about making fun of the youngins
maaatttIt was some kind of medium sized mix breed, was mostly chill but for sure needed just a bit more space that she somehow was oblivious too
JmckRNice write up bro. Thanks. Good to hear things are going well with your partner too!
funny how things come around. I struggled with online dating apps for years as I just hated the whole idea of them, plus I just never seemed to match with anyone and I just couldn’t understand why, especially when I moved back to Canada earlier this year. Now suddenly I’ve had 2 dates in the last 3 weeks and 2 more this week, PLAYER alert over here… guess I’ll see how things go.
JmckRAlso from one of the first dates we both got on super well, like insanely well, but neither of us kind of felt that spark. So we’ve agreed to be friends and I actually really want to do that. She’s super cool and a good skier too so I hope we can stay in touch and I’ll have another ski buddy this winter (this also has nothing to do with the fact she’s a manager at Arc’Teryx and can get me 50% off through friends and family).
JmckRSo frustrating when people clearly can’t control their dog but they act like it’s not a problem.
maaatttIt was incredibly uncomfortable. When I suggested we sit outside after her dog nearly nipped a child she literally asked why
JmckRFfs. And what a lot of people don’t realise is that any dog bigger than a hamster can actually be super dangerous. I had a friend of a friend with a cocker spaniel that once went for me, left a super deep teeth mark in me which bled for a while. I had to kick
him super hard to get him off me. I’m the biggest dog lover on the planet but fuck that dog. If that had been a child I absolutely dread to think of the outcome.
VTshredder69Owning three dogs in my life. it's not usually the dog. It's the owner's fault. 99% of dogs can be raised properly and will not do anything more than play bite you when roughhousing.
Don't blame the dogs. Like when i see a rotten kid. I don't usually blame the kid, I look at the parents who are usually incompetent.
