Jester 16s vs Jester Pro 18s?

I've been riding the Jester Pro 18s for years and never had any issues with them. After about 6 season on my last ones (primarily skiing park) I finally busted the tail track and had to get some new bindings.

I was on a time crunch to get something new mounted and had to go with the Jester 16s. I would have gotten 18s, but they weren't available locally and had a long shipping time. I have a trip coming up very soon to whistler and needed something ASAP.

Are the Jester 16s as reliable? For context, my level of skiing is aggressive park (dub 12s, large rail hits, etc.).

I should add that my primary concern is premature release on the binding when landing larger tricks. Especially switch. I know the Jester 18 AFD plate is fixed whereas the Jester 16 slides side to side. I do not want to come out of the ski from just landing too hard.

I used some old Jester 16s and they were really solid. I wasn't ripping as hard as you but I did break a tyrolia binding on the same pair of skis fwiw. The 16s held up through a lot of butter tricks, days of rail skiing and some pretty big landings. I'm 6' and 200+lbs, had the DIN at 9 and never had a problem with pre- releasing.

Appreciate the info! Good to know they didn't pre-release for you. I'm 5'9" about 180lbs and rode 13 DIN on the Jester Pros. Never had an issue till they broke.

I think riding the Jester 16s at around 11 or 12 will be okay. If I notice any pre-release though I'll likely just upgrade for next season and bite the bullet on the cost lol

I really like my new generation Jester 16s. I've skied both extensively and I like the new gen more than the old jester 18 or 16. The heel piece doesn't ever get stuck in the middle position anymore and I like the new metal plate on the toe piece too, really nice for clearing snow. But for skiing feel they are about the same

I've been using the Marker 16s from this season - coming from 10 years on Pivots - and I'm stoked AF! No issues at all. They just do the job, and they do it perfectly.

I have both the 18s and the 16s. Love love love the 16s. Din range is more suitable for myself. Never have had any issues with durability. I have 4 pairs of 16s in the rotation and all are amazing.
