Newsheeperspeople don't understand that size doesn't matter, its how you use it, and in that case midwest does it better. Most resorts out east don't have a full top to bottom part, the big resorts do but most places in midwest got top to bottom with a tow rope. tow rope fast asf
DlonettiIf we talking just park, I'd say midwest has it better. Just cant beat the tow rope for hot laps. If youre less park focused obviously east coast would be better (tho us midwesterners do get to claim Mt. Bohemia). The older I get and more I think about moving, the more I realize there is nothing else like Midwest (more specifically MN) park skiing. A league of its own tbh, tho I am jealous of the east coasts longer seasons
switchlip2The pass prices out there look sweet as well compared to east
SteezyYeeterwhat is your question? "what is better?" there's literally no debate, it's the east coast. you can get the same park experience and then actually learn how to ski on top of that.
Dlonettidefinitely cannot get the same park experience, you plebs dont get to claim rope tow hot laps. Fuck lapping a park off a chair idc if its a high speed
tutipupsso tow ropes are a midwest only thing according to you?
Dlonettilol nah I know theyre not but I am pretty sure they originated in the midwest? I know mission ridge and skibowl and other places out west have them, are there any east coast resorts that do? Also doesnt Grouse have a surface t bar in the park or something which is better than a lift but not as good as a rope
DlonettiYeah Trollhaugen season pass for next year is like $289 rn lol
Farmville420Fuck the midwest, East Coast is better we invented style AND rail skiing, invented twin tips, and mac forehand is better than any midwest "pro" ever. Anything good in this sport has come from the east coast. Line traveling circus? All us baby. Stept and CL? Us too. HG skis? You already know. Tall T Dan? Duh. Tall T productions? No but we got the poster boys Keegan Kilbride and Phil Casabon. This argument is really MIDwest vs bEAST coast and it's not an argument it's simply that we are better and yall suck. Ryan Stevenson got more swag in his pinky finger than any trollhaugen rider I've ever seen.
Farmville420First rope tow in the US was built in Vermont in 1934. I wasn't joking, everything good in skiing comes from the east coast as well as a shit ton of good skiers and filmers.
Dlonettidamn i stand disappointedly corrected. thanks east coast i guess. are there current rope tow parks out east?

switchlip27 springs for a few more years hopefully, wisp has a cable tow with handles, app ski in nc has a cable tow. Kissing bridge in western New York has one never been but I’ve seen clips
Almost all east coast ski hills started with rope tows and surface lifts back in the day but from the times changing and the east coast resorts being on actual mountains and hills and not just tall landfills where a rope makes sense for regular skiing uphill loading where in the east it just doesn’t make sense back in the day. That’s why the east has no ropes anymore they all have been removed

j.rocas an East coaster, I voted Midwest lol
but I'm a pure park rat dreaming about those rope tow parks...
Someone wrote that East's season is longer. I'd disagree with that. Northern VT/Maine, but here in southern NH the season is barely 3 months even in a good winter. Mid Dec - mid March
DlonettiYeah i guess when I think east coast I think Northern VT and NH, upstate NY and Maine. The rest I kinda think of as the mideast lol
j.rocI love 'mideast' gonna start using that lol
Northern parts of those states def have some proper East Coast Hard Core Real Stuff
SchoessWe are comparing actual mountains to 300ft vert hills lol.
DobbydaI like the 300 FT hills
SchoessThe Midwest definitely has a charm to it. Growing up skiing Wild and Troll, I had a lot of good times. I do miss the tow rope accessibility of lapping rails now that I moved out west. To me, the biggest annoyance with the Midwest is just shit ass weather.

DobbydaFr this winter. Troll just opened the new expansion and now they closed. Although I do like being able to lap the shit out of features so I can learn new tricks.
GayWolf420Michigan is best :)
