Moment deathwish vs wildcat

kazkiki7Im looking to grab the 108 wildcat or 112 deathwish to add to my quiver that includes a 121 revolt.

i prefer a stiffer ski as i have had bad experiences with line SFB and zag slap. Can anyone give me insight on the two ?
I would be using them in Utah for the rest of this season then Colorado for the next couple seasons

really depends on your preference. but im your height but 40 pounds less and i ride around 184s so i think you sizing up from me makes sense. If your happy with the length and confident that that’s what you want than than you can pull the trigger but i’d recommend demoing a similar style ski if not the actual moment wild cat 108 in a size down and see how you like it.

If youre comfortable on 190’s absolutely go with a 190 on the wildcat 108. Going to measure around 187 straight pull. You gain a decent amount of charge with the 190 but don’t give up much playfulness.

gana need a better word than mine on that but i’d say that the wild cat can probably go a little faster based on the weight and longer turn radius and is probably alittle more freestyle than the atris. both skis rip though, i don’t think you can go wrong with that.

I skied both. They are in a bit of a different ski classes so the comparison is not really adequate. Atris is more of a directional ski with recommended mount at -8 or 9, i don't recall exactly. I'd call this class - not demanding directional ski. I'd say their direct competitor is blizzard rustler 10, while Wildcats are a typical freestyle oriented planks, with a lot more tail rocker, more centered stance, etc. Hard to compare because they just ski differently. Wildcats are looser, more playful. Atris is a touch softer

Do you deal with a lot of variable snow? Deathwish is all about the triple camber. It’s going to bite a lot better especially in firm snow. Absolutely love my 104 deathwish in firm and crud. The 112 is softer so gets pushed around a little more.

I love the revolts because they are like tanks so if deathwish is better than the zag and line but not as much as wildcat? I would do 112 for sure 104 seems to small for my liking, I even debated getting the 116 or 115 anima as my DD and keeping revolts for powder 😂 not too sure how smart that is and if I even would need the revolt . It’s a good ski hence why I’m trying to keep it around

I just got back from two CO trips. First one I had the deathwish 104 and 112 at Breckenridge and the second I had the wildcat 108 at beaver creek.

Personally my absolute favorite on the trip was the deathwish 104. It’s the stiffest out of all of them with the beech/poplar core. It was great all over the mountain until I got into the deep stuff.

the deathwish 112 was my least favorite. It’s the softest of the bunch. It gets pushed around more than the other two especially in chopped up crud. It really just wants softer variable snow.

the cat 108 was great over all. Plenty of float across the mountain. While softer than the wish 104 it still performed great and had plenty of back bone.

where on the mountain do you usually ski? What’s your priority conditions wise?

Clutch insight thank you that’s super helpful. Yeah 108 might be the move, revolts are solid so I’ll start with 108 then do 116 later on if I want to replace the revolts

Pretty much. There’s not much the 108 can’t do. I love me some deathwish but if he’s stuck on the 112 I don’t think he’ll be happy based off his description of wants.

that being said I do think the dw104 is a better option for CO based off where he says he’ll be skiing assuming he has something for deep days. The 104 waist scares people off for some reason but the float is pretty decent until You get into some deep deep. The 104 just has a far wider sweet spot conditions wise than the 108 cat. More nimble in tight spots and trees, stiffer so plows through crud and chop better, still super playful with the -6 mount point, but is equally happy in soft as it is in firm.
