Thin, I have smart wool PhD ultra or whatever, some darn tough, Mons royale.
It would be kind of cool if a sock company made socks with a little cushioning in only areas where desired. I'd love a pair with a little bit of volume at my heel/ ankle, maybe a little cushioning on the shin but not toes, ball, instep.
I’m using Dissent labs gfx compression nano tour or the DLX-wool ones and cep brand thin compression ski socks. IMO the dissent labs gfx DLX-wool is the best all around, the touring ones are thinner and feel nicer but make my feet sweat way more
Dissent socks rule; they cost a lot, though; if you can try them on before buying to get the size right. My daily socks are the IQfit Ultimate (Medium for 26.5); they are easy to put on... when I'm into a better fit I'll use their thin compression socks but they suck to put on.
Thin is the way. I tried a medium thickness Icebreaker thinking it would be okay because it was Merino wool. Turns out it gave my skin a rash; too thick and scratchy to be pressed against skin.
Actually just tried medium thick socks the either day and my feet didnt hurt as much as with my thin socks.. guess everyone has to find their own preference.
