Look Pivot 15 Toe Piece Side to Side Play

Hey guys, I've got a pair of Look Pivot 15s that have about 170-200 days on them. I noticed that the toe piece has side to side play, it happens when my boot it clicked in as well as when I move it with my hand. Forward pressure is set correctly, tried turning up the DIN on the toe piece and it didn't make a difference. Video for reference, black ones are brand new, just showing how they normally should be. Are they just clapped out? I don't notice it much when I'm riding, are they still safe and is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks.

Idk best guess is that the metal tower that holds the bearing is worn down on the top and is no longer a square shape. Either that or the internal surfaces on the aluminum toepiece where the tower inserts have worn down. Is it safe? Probably not. Is it clapped? I'd say so. But I've seen people with sketchier pivots than that so do what you want imo

good question. they are designed to have that tilt to them so dont stress.... but that old pair is a little strange

No they aren’t, I think they are just worn hella. I’ve tried playing with forward pressure / toe din but it doesn’t make a difference. I’m just gonna keep skiing them I don’t really notice it when I’m riding.

theoretically if you landed on a hard surface at an angle, it would have increase chance of toe lung sliding out, as well if you were holding a high angle and hit a bump

its interesting that the plastic housing is coming up too, in your video. you see the seam of the clear plastic come up?

Oh that's just because the plastic cover for the din markings is a bit loose so my hand is pushing on it and lifting it up.

That makes sense, I haven't had a problem with them pre releasing so not too worried about that. One side effect of that toe piece play could be increased torque on the heel piece. Which I think caused this heel piece metal ring part in the picture below to snap. I've had this happen twice so far, and the only extra parts I have are all already cracked where it snapped lol so these bindings will have to be reduced to park beaters I guess. Gonna try something other than pivots when I buy my next bindings

The mount plate is not flush on the ski, the mount screws have worn loose/the plate and it has sway?

It really won't matter at all, if you blow your knee over 2mm of movement due to the age of a binding thats a skill issue.

DON'T crank you dins because of this, if you do anything do the opposite, remember the binding has to give before the stressors in your knee engage. because the binding is loose.

To fix it, buy a baseplate if thats an issue, but also dont care, no binding will lay flat ever.
