ON3P Wrenegades

One of these days they're actually going to stop selling Wrens (even though it's been over a year since they said they'd stop and yet they're still selling them). I'm getting some FOMO and am considering buying a pair of the 108s or 110s before they're gone for good.
Has anyone here ridden the Wrenegades? What ski would you most closely compare it to?

I have the Wren 102ti in 184cm with pivot 15s. I really like the shape, rocker profile and radius feels super dialed. They really want you to ski fast and open up your turns. Its a long radius like 23m or something in 184 and feels best to ski them with that in mind. Equal piste vs offpiste performance imo. Factory tune is super sharp and it might take a bit to the the tune how you like. mine are still super sharp. Great spring snow ski.

I think the best comparison would be an imaginary blend of Blizzard Rustler 10 and Bonafide. The build, dampness, and radius of a bonafide but the rocker profile and mount point closer to a Rustler. People were always talking about a Rustler 10ti and i think the wren is sort of that.

Probably going to sell my pair for homie pricing because i only ski on whitewalkers these days. feel free to send a dm if you want.

I don't have a comparison but man the 96's are sick. I snagged a pair of the final 102ti model this fall because I'm obsessed with this ski. It's gonna eventually die and I gotta have a replacement lol

I have wren 108s in 189. I have a park background and these skis are not like others I ski but they’re really good at charging and just attacking the mtn. Bombproof skis as well, recommend 100% for freeride skiing.

It's so lame they stopped making the Wren 96, or any sub-100mm for that matter. I don't understand the reasoning to make every single (non-park) ski in your lineup 100mm or more. I mean the Woodsman and the Jeffery are almost identical skis with a different recommended mount point. Not everyone lives in constantly-fresh-snow-land, i don't want a 100+mm daily driver when 70% of the season is hardpack or 2-3" of fresh over hard. The Wren 96 served a distinct purpose that the Mango doesn't, and now no other On3P ski does the same. I honestly don't understand it

They stop making what people don't buy. Shit, Scott has said in the past they will make anything if 10 people pre-order it. It's only happened once. And it wasn't a skinny ski.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm almost convinced i need them. I'm still on the fence though since I don't think I do anything that the Woodsman couldn't handle.
How does the pop feel on the Wrens? Coming from the Jeffrey as a daily driver, will they feel overly damp in comparison?

That's fair, but I have a hard time believing that no one is interested in buying a sub-100mm all-mountain ripper. The Volkl Mantra is one of the best selling skis of all time. I fully understand that the target market of On3P vs Volkl is wildly different. But here's one specific case of them losing a sale because they don't offer any real variety in their lineup. I'm willing to bet at least nine other people have had a similar experience.

I was super stoked to buy my first non-pow ski in many years and was absolutely dead-set on that ski being an On3P because of the amazing experience I had demoing a pair of Wren 96's years ago. But after many, many hours of research it looks like I'm going with a J FastForward because it appears to be the only firm-but-slarvy playful-but-chargy sub 100mm twintip ski on the market. And ya know what, the Kartel 96 used to hold that spot, with the Wren being the more directional of the two, and now they're both gone

Interest is one thing. People actually putting money down on a pre order is another. Everyone says they’ll pay till it’s time to put up.

Valid, but again the 90-99mm all-mountain ski is the bread and butter of virtually every other ski company on the planet. You're telling me that if On3P were to make 100 pairs in three lengths, say 172 180 188, that they would at least not break even? If that's the case, that's on On3P for doing literally zero marketing (which I know is kinda their thing, but maaaayyybe that doesn't quite work if you can't move the most popular type of ski)

Fuck it, 20 skis in each length and even make a 194 to include the ultra-rad "I only ski 110's and they gotta be twice my height" bros that obviously all flock to Moment. My point still stands

As mentioned they’ve done pre orders for skis people “claimed to want” but they didn’t get enough pre orders.

So why would they produce a ski in the hopes just to break even? If they can’t sell 10 for a pre order it doesn’t matter much.

last month people were bitching up a storm asking moment to make the long night train again in 124. Everyone swore up and down they’d buy it.

two pairs became available. One on powder 7 and one on ksl I believe it was.

no one bought them. When it’s time to put the money up suddenly everyone changes their tune is my point.

I'd honestly love to hear from On3P about the sales history of the Wren 96 and the Kartel 96. I know that won't ever happen, but it would be really interesting to see if there really is such a massive disparity on selling 100mm+ vs sub-100mm skis. Like obviously they got rid of them for a reason, but judging from the very apparent lack of used Wrens and Kartels available for resale, people really seem to like them and hold onto them

I think it’s more to do with their bread and butter customers. I think more people buying them are riding something outside of a 96.



like your point about moment. There’s a reason they dont make really slim short skis. Its not there bread and butter demographic.

Man I guess, at this point I'm just lamenting. Like, everyone makes a few different pow skis with varying characteristics and clearly they sell. But I shouldn't have needed to spend WEEKS looking for the kind of ski I outlined above before finding the one lone pair that checks the boxes, just because it's under 100mm. On3P is supposed to be the ski company for skiers, charge hard pop off everything generally be a menace, so it sucks that they've essentially written off everyone who doesn't want a 100mm daily.

I want the Woodsman. It looks like a ridiculously fun ski that checks all the boxes of what I want, BUT I already have two other 100+mm, why would I want a third? I trusted that On3P knows different conditions exist outside of fresh snow every other day, but they don't seem to acknowledge that fact.

I wouldn't say overly damp but noticeably less pop which is a good thing when you don't want it. You can still boost off natural features or easily pop over those ditches 😎. Tbh I think the Jeffrey feels weird compared to the wrens. I find the wrenegades so much easier to carve, in crud, and for sketchy shit.
