KolaOnCokei’m riding vishnu wets right now and i ski in ohio. im headed out to big sky soon. I am considering buying a pair of used icelantic nomad 115 or pioneer 96. I want to ride the parks but I plan on carving on some groomers as well. which pair do you guys think i should get? thanks.
i have pioneer 96s and i can tell you i would not recommend taking them into the park for anything more than a 180. they are super nice and balanced in the air and land great so you can go huge sending cliffs or straight airs super confidently but the swing weight in the tip is not fun for rotations. They carve great and float incredibly well for their waist width, they prolly ski powder more like a 104 underfoot. would 100% recommend for an all mountain charger. very stable and bulldozey if you ski them confidently. the nomad 115 is really a powder ski, i’m sure they are fun but if you are just carving groomers like you say than they defiantly won’t be the better choice. they probably would do better in the park given the twin tip but i bet they weigh a lot and would be somewhat of a handful still. but if you are going to be doing all mountain and firmer snow for at least half your trip than i would recommend the pioneers.
