Hoping that:
-The posts stop getting loose on big soft skis.
-Would like the post location and perpendicular-ness to be less sensitive to my shitty three-beers-deep pattern mount job.
mikemThe pivot is changing
PartyBullshiitYes it is.
Paul.Whats this pic from? The toe seems unchanged for the pivot 2.0
elm.I bet it’ll be easier to remove the toe and maybe better climbing bails and brake retention. I don’t think they can shed too much on the weight, though. Unless you could remove the heel, then it’d be the lightest touring setup on the market.
jca
Looks like the same/similar brake retainer and climbing bails. They've always worked well enough for me, despite being a bit primitive.
PartyBullshiitSpy shot. Notice the different shape head and the new base plate. This is not the current pivot toe available

BallClapperWill they work on the current gen of 15's?

AlmostCoolerFitness goal for this year is to be faster in my cast on heavy ass skis wearing baggy track pants than all the aging skimo nerds are on their lightweight setups in skin tight spandex.
tryna dish out midlife crises ya feel
driftspassing gear obsessed dorks who hopped out of a tesla in skimo suits and carbon everything with my heavy janky touring setup really inflates the ego. Nothing better than flexing my coreness on people who are just there to skin up and pizza down

elm.Looks easier to get the toe on and off. Less error on mounting it. Is the brake pad different on the heel? Hopefully it will retain the brakes better
.nastyThey did change the brake lock just a bit to help lock the brake sturdier. The whole system is going be sold as a whole binding now, so no more upgrading an existing binding. Not sure what that means for buying spare parts or piecing things together yet though. The whole thing is much more bomber than it already was that way, and all AFD configurations will be including in the box. All retailers are getting one set this winter until the official launch next winter. Not sure what we're going to do with our yet!

jcaThat's disappointing.
driftsVery disappointing. Not having to buy an entire binding at retail is why I got cast and not duke pt or shifts when I wanted to have a second set of skis that could be used to skin
swegman2Same. Time for a second ski kit or two of the current gen.
PartyBullshiitBetter hunt them down. Everyone is oos
N41v131355well, IDK. Looks like the mount will be less accuracy demanding, that's good. At the same time, I don't see how this version of CAST solves any other previous version issues.
PartyBullshiitBecause the toe piece no longer has to hope all 4 posts are perfect. Now it’s all controlled by the single plate. One plate is easier than 4 posts
N41v131355yeah, I that's clear, and that's definitely a plus! But these side-threads for moving toe pieces on and off... well, I guess it should work better then CAST 1.0. I had awfull experience with it. Plus I remember everyone complained about how these toe baseplates developed play.

elm.I did quiver killers on a couple pairs and i was able to adjust the posts so that the toe piece always worked
the new ones seem like a solid improvement. I don’t see any difference in weight from the old ones

BallClapperAre quiver killers a viable option to use one set of bindings across skis? How long does the swap take?
edit: (Does the install count as a "mount?")

elm.It depends how you value time vs. $. It realistically takes me 15 minutes to swap, but i loctite everything. Pivots are tricky because of the brake and half moons.
i wouldn’t do it again unless i had a massive ski collection.
the install is a mount and it will take up more space than a regular mount because the diameter of the quiver killer is bigger than a screw
BallClapperCan they be put in pre existing holes?
.nastyNot sure what we're going to do with our yet!
Crispy.Send them to me and I'll write you a good review and hype up your shop!!
