As far as I am aware side edge you can sharpen more often than base edge. Maybe 2-3 times per season depending on how often you are skiing. Base edge is typically sharpened with a full tune after a fraction of it is removed during the base grind. I would recommend a full tune once every season/60ish days of skiing. There are a lot of variables such as the conditions you are skiing on an how sharp you want your skis. Cheers
