SessionSeriously, people sleeping on the Code are missing out
cyphersmy helmet is super low profile when i leave it at home
b0ssThis is a dare
PartyBullshiitI’ve been genuinely shocked how many rurocs I actually see in person. Not because they’re crazy looking but just the cost.
I have noticed I’ve seen a lot of the “bike skiers” wearing them. Less skiers and even less boarders
yzzidI’m in the market for a new helmet. I think I’m over rocking my goggles underneath. It’s time for me. I’m not the park rat I used to be. Does anyone know what are some good helmets I should look at? I see a lot of pros with a super low profile helmet that looks great with wearing the goggles over them.
SteezyYeeterwtf?? yall switched up big time in this thread, ns has been super anti goggles over helmet in the past. like thinking only a jerry would do that. why'd you change your minds as soon as i went goggs under lol. fwiw i have my earpads out, got the beanie with gogs under look. my face gets too hot though so i lowk been wearing them over my helmet harlaut style, which i actually like. i can't wear them on the helmet normal because they fall down if i jump or rip some moguls.

STEEZUS_CHRI5Tlet them follow the trends
Farmville420Funny considering gogs under is literally a trend, you aren't supposed to wear them like that it's just anesthetics, which is exactly what a trend is all about

this brand has a helmet that meets ASTM standards that is trying to look like a beanie. havent seen it in person yet but it makes them look like they got a huge noggin lol

STEEZUS_CHRI5TIt's more comfortable and preserves the elasticity of the goggle band. Also resting your goggles on your helmet damages the foam padding. Though I do believe people jumped on the bandwaggon once it became popular, glad they are gettting off nowadays.
Farmville420You're still applying tension to the band if the goggles are under your helmet, i dont understand where you got that from but that doesnt even make sense, same with the foam padding thing, goggles sitting on your face also deforms the padding. Like applying a load will deform materials over time, doesn't matter if it is your face or the helmet they're resting on. Comfort is subjective so sure if you think it's more comfortable then whatever lol, the other stuff I know isn't true though
SteezyYeeterhaving your goggles over your helmet definitely stretches them out more than them being on your face, especially if you're keeping them up on your helmet a lot, which is what i do.

STEEZUS_CHRI5TThe tension is not the same. When the goggles are pulled from the face and up onto the helmet the band is stretched beyond it's wearing position. Not to mention that keeping it there in the extended state also wears down the elasticity.
Dragging the foam padding over the plastic edge of your helmet causes it to wear down and deform early. They are shaped for the curvature of your head, not your helmet.

C.R.E.A.MYou mean to say that goggle companies do not anticipate google wearers wearing goggles over their helmets and this stretches the bounds of their engineered purpose?
Wild ass take.
Farmville420The tension SHOULD be the same because the bands are adjustable, just loosen or tighten them???

STEEZUS_CHRI5TNo response to goggles over damaging the foam so I'll assume we agree on that.
As for the band damage, maybe I wasn't clear enough. Helmets are thick and go over your head. So to take your helmet off you first stretch the goggle band out beyond the helmet rim as you pull it away from your face. Then placing the goggle outward on top of your helmet you can take it off. As the goggle remains there, the band is being stretched beyond the "wearing position". This is where "goggle over" users damage the elasticity of their bands.
Wearing position is on the face, resting position is on the helmet. The distance is shown below.

partyandBSi have had the same pair of smith i/ox since 2016 or 2017. i easily have over 500 days with them over them helmet and there is honestly minimal wear. i finally bought 4d mag goggles last week because they no longer make the iox and i snapped a clip on the band by shutting it in my car door (lol?). the foam is still well intact. maybe a bit scratchy compared to the new pair but overall wear and tear would take like 10 years to have an impacted. i could tell that towards the end, the elastic would slowly slip throughout the day. but i would leave them stretched on my helmet overnight (ill advised lol) and still overall they functioned well.
with the foam, i think the biggest reason why you don’t see wear as much around the nose is due to the band positioning having to be lower on the back of your head than when wearing a helmet so the pressure shifts to the forehead. at least for me it is that way. the foam doesnt even touch my my nose lol
Farmville420The foam this is also a myth I responded to that in my first reply. I'll send you pics when I get home of goggs I wore under my helmet being more damaged than goggs I wear over, and I have a ton of videos to prove how I was wearing each pair too, trust me that isn't a reason the foam gets messed up. It's actually just use, they're pressed against your face wether you wear them over or under, your nose is just as solid as the plastic of a helmet, same with your cheekbones and forehead.
And yes, while your theory makes sense, it isn't true, because again as they lose their elasticity, you just tighten them... goggles are fitted so that they have to be completely loosened in order to fit over a helmet and as they deform over time (the same as wearing them under) you just adjust them.
