Eastern Washington Mountains

Most people who like to ride from WSU all do to either Schwietzer or someitmes Mission Ridge. There are really no close mountains. Schwietzer has a park. there is also brundage, but i dont know how far it is from WSU...

southeast corner kevin? that's WSU. its wheat fields, its retarded. There's that one up in the north corner...can't remember the name. Cindy's friend who went to.....some school, can't remember its name either....gonzaga? yeah, gonzaga, she went up to that place up north. It sucks though, its like Hurricane Ridge I think. Just do rails on campus when theres snow....even though there wasn't this year. stupid school.

Yo all, in the south east of Washington there is a ski resort. it's called BLUEWOOD. i've skied their numerous times and it's not too fine. . . but if you hit it on a powder day it's fine, though a short ride. if you like glades. . .damn, you're in for a treat cause they've got plenty of fun ones.

The Mountains in the southeast corner are called The Blues. And yes they have Bluewood. It really really SUCKS. They try to have a park, but they never have enough snow to make any kind of a good one. Only good thing about it is that it is cheap. Oh, and Master-J, it isnt that far from WSU.

Your best bet is schwetizer. Dont bother with bluewood. Because from Pullman its going to take you over 2 hrs cause bluewood itself is 100 miles from pullman.. Then you have schweitzer. which is a better drive and you can do it in just over two hours to sandpoint about 2.5 or so. I know cause i drove that rode every thursday and monday since i worked up there 2 days a week and went to school 3 days at The University of Idaho..

Yeah Bluewood licks balls. I will never go back there again i hope... skied there for my whole life. Management is gay some good tree skiing on powder days but still dont go there maybe if they put in a high speed quad to Vinters or something but(not gonna happen). Yeah its in the blue Mountains like 1 hr from Walla Walla

Damn fools don't diss on Bluewood, it's not that bad, you get what you pay for 3 to 4 months of riding for under 200 dollars. Plus real nice tree runs, and the powder days are tight as well, even though there aren't many of them.

if your up for hiking you can find some nice shit beyond vitners 2 or 3 ridges over and get some real good stashes. for the size of the mountain it aint bad if you wanan go beyond the boundraies. but the management for the most part is fucked. Bluewood has been up for sale for the last 10 years and the only reason people wont buy it is because of the Owner who says whoever buys it, is that His son has to be kept on staff or they wont sell, which everyone know up there, that they are bitches. hence all the problems and cool shit that never goes through is thanks to Stan and his dumb son.

ima hopefully hit up schweitzer next year, and brundage is about the same as schwiezter 2 hrs or so. brundage has a good park and on pow days it kicks ass.

Are they still doing $199 season passes at Silver Mtn for students? Schweitzer is def. a better mountain but they only did cheap passes for one year. $179 for students and they sold like 25,000 of them, so now they're back up to like 3 bills. We did Silver because you take the freeway the whole way, no Schweitzer access road (sketch), the Chrondola is where its at on the way up, plus 'south of the border' is sick and there is a hotel in Kellog that is $25 a night and they don't care how many people you put in there. We stayed there for $3 each one time.

Oh, and there is also Mt. Spokane, but it sucks ass.

well with schweitzer you can get the harbor college pass for 249. which gets you all access to three mountains. plus 50% off tickets are intrawest resorts like mammoth and whistler and copper mt. So really its is better. for the price for what you get.

Bluewood is a terrible mountain. I typically ride there around 20-30 days a season, just because it's the only thing within an hour of where I live. The park is rediculously small, the lifts are terribly slow, and, as others have already said, the management is screwed up. I'll probably be teaching lessons there this year so I can get a free pass there and ski free at other places. Even without a free pass in a good season it's worth it to get a pass if you live close, in the early season $165 will get you a student pass, which comes with a mug for free coffe at a gas station on the way up or down. The most dissapointing thing about Bluewood is the complete lack of cliffs. There's no exposed rock whatsoever after they get a few feet of snow. But, if you don't mind hitting the same marginal table-top and building out of bounds all day, you can have a good time there.

As far as other western washington resorts go - Mission Ridge has some excellent terrain, cliffs, chutes, fun stuff. Most of my friends who live in spokane ride at Silver instead of Schweitzer because of the combination of Silver's easy access, good park, and Schweitzer's crowds and often terrible weather. Brundage in Idaho is wonderful and small and largely undescovered, great terrain. The best skiing is just across the border in Canada. Whitewater has the most hardcore locals I've ever seen. No park, but with natural tarrain like that, who needs one. Red Mountain is a good time, but it's getting bigger and loosing it's small feel. I've heard good things about Fernie, but never been there.
