Lange Shadow?

I would highly recommend going to a bootfitter. Only a professional bootfitter with access to many different boots can find the perfect boot for your foot length, width, heel size, ankle mobility, strength, arch, skiing type, ability, etc. Plus if you need any work done, most bootfitters will work on boots they fit for you for free. I would strongly discourage you from buying online. I have NEVER met someone who has regretted going to a bootfitter, but have met many people who regret buying their boots online.

Im also on my 4th season in my cochise. I got zipfits this season and couldn't be happier. I was rocking the stock liners last season and they were super packed out and starting to rip in the heel pocket.

As said above go to a bootfitter but I have skied the shadow so I can at least give some feedback on them. They are interesting, our whole team skied them and its hard to describe what's going on. They are very smooth to flex and they were fine to ski in but we did not really find them much different than every other boot we skied in performance. The flex was somewhat
unique but not night and day different. Our head engineer found he could not drive the skis as hard, I did not find this and the for me the boots felt ok but they just have that lange ultra damped feel. Non of us got on with the fit but that's just our feet. I tried them with my foam injection liners from my mindbenders which fit perfectly and the fit was improved but I was just expecting more I guess from them. But they were fine, if you like how lange ski I think you will still like these.

What exactly is different about lange boots that gives them an ultra damp feeling? Do they have a different material/construction compared to other 2 piece boots?
I've always worn Lange because they tend to fit me well so i didn't know there was anything different about them

In our opinion they have a more damp feel as they use generally a slightly thicker shell and a softer flex modulus than most modern boots do. Its very noticeable in something like the RS boots compared to boots like the Redster and DRS for example. Some people really like it and we have found many female testers really like the feel but more powerful male skiers can overpower them a little or dont get the support they expect.

shadow is amazing on edge, but doesn't have much response forward and back... its just very smooth forward, kind of like a 3 piece... in the cochise you can really feel the strength of the spine holding you back as you flex, but the shadow will just flex with the terrain. I am having a lot of fun on the shadow and am invested in getting used to it because how nicely it turns and releases. From personal experience the last size of cochise is right in between sizes of the MV and LV shadow... so make sure you try them on. The cochise last fits me great as is, and I chose the LV shadow with a medial side navicular punch and its great. I dont agree with Tom that they're too easy to overpower because my 130 feels in the ballpark of all the other 130 boots I've tried, it's just a different style flex. It has less resistance to initially start the flex, than a trad 2 piece boot... but after that its normal. It certainly feels softer in store, than on the hill. I just put the softer spine insert in, and it might ski better im still testing. The way shadow flexes requires an adjustment to how you ski, if you don't adjust you would be convinced it was easy to overpower.
