A-51 and Breck Parks vs. Winter Park and Woodward?

I haven't been on this site in years and felt out of the loop since I was in college and working. I grew up skiing in Winter Park for years. I always looked forward to the park WP has done; since last year, I have really loved the new layout and design last season(iykyk). However, in high school, we always shred A-51 and Breck parks too. They were fire. Multiple parks and levels for progression and jumps were massive. Breck did Dew Tour, too, which we'd send to also. But now that I haven't skied a Vail resort since 2018 (I only get the Ikon pass now), I am curious about the park scene. I know they USED to be sick and would do private builds for Level 1 and Poor Boyz films. But from what I am hearing/seeing, it seems like they just fully gave up. Like last year, a-51 didn't open till 5 weeks before closing?!?! And Vail doesn't even have a park? Obviously, I know Woodward is the GOAT, and their parks are amazing every year.

Enough ranting... are Breck and Keystone parks still relevant and good? Or are they not what it used to be and Vail Resorts just doesn't care anymore? Genuine question. I used to ski like 70 days a year, and now I maybe get like 15-20. If they are bad why? (if someone knows)

Vail has park, they just shut down the micro parks around the mountain it’s all on golden peak. Decent variety nothing crazy. I’ve been liking beaver creek for jump lines lately too. Breck was such a shitshow I haven’t gone there for years. I think you’re probably right about A51 not being open until late though idk what that’s about.

Will update when I see parks open up.

Woodward is a brand not a mtn. Powdr Corp mtns parks. There's a ton of woodwards now. They have similarities for sure but they're also built by different people with different needs/budgets.

Snowmass always had a good park is on ikon. I don't really like the flow of the park zone(better than vails) but they always had really solid features consistently. Buttermilk has a better layout but parks were hit or miss year to year.


Vail resorts have def scaled back parks. Some of them still have good offerings, some got nuked. Anythint Vail expect to get a little smaller every year for park features and real estate.

A51 seems to have fallen off because Keystone is turning into a family friendly resort with less park emphasis.

Last time two times I was there they were really struggling with their jumps. They were sketchy and as a result nobody was hitting them. They would launch you straight into the air and the landings were flat as a parking lot. I ended up snapping my shin on one of their jumps and will probably never return to A51.

Breckenridge is now the worst. The resort once known for the best terrain parks in the world closes them down with months left on the season. When it's sunny and soft and you just want to lap later in the season breckenridge has an answer, and it's "fuck you".

2 winters ago(spring 2022) I was at keystone. The jump were really proportionally bad but the landings were great. Super steap and not very flat. Don’t know if you went last year but I think they fixxed it. My biggest issue is the park didn’t have the same vibe anymore. Extreamly dead and no stoke

Yeah fr. That's what I loved about Keystone. It was the vibe of that Jank 2-man lift and people throwing down and filming their homies. Used to love their park even though I wasn't as good as most. Just hitting the jumps and rails was sick. Sad to see Vail resorts not caring and just dumping money into tourism

they gotta bring back Bobby's Life era, hahaha. Bummer Breck used to be the best park in Colorado now turned to this.
