MONTEC/DOPESNOW is gaining a little to much credibility lately and they do not deserve that. Shit quality, shit ingredients, and a clone look that is NOT GOOD.

Better yet go hit ur local shop during a sale and get some high quality wear from last year at like 50% off

Fuck it even go get Virtika instead, most of their stuff is the same price range as clone wear, but has way higher quality and u will look legit at least.

Some of the employees are recreational skiers but aren't very deep in the sport, can't find literally anything about the ride store founders & their relationships to snowsports.

YahMeanDoesn't matter what the park community thinks lol a far majority of skiers and snowboarders are casual and will continue to buy. hamsauceThey are fast fashion, which means they drop ship stuff from China. The quality is notably worse than other brands, and yes they do sponsor big names (like Jesper) they are very much an instagram brand. Influencers love Dope because its cheap, trendy, and you can pick the exact colors you want- plus, their following base are going to be Jerry/Jerrilina who ski a few times a year, not your greasy rail rat or freeride bro.

A lot of their advertising is short form content and a frick ton of instagram ads, which they can afford because their parent company is huge. Their bread and butter are insta clips- they have no foot in the community aside from a couple pro riders. The way i see it, they are making high quality brands irrelevant to the majority of skiers because they have a cheap, trendy product that only needs to hold up to a few days a year of skiing blues. Id love to see a Dope jacket hold up to the abuse that my flylow Jacket has- snags on branches, keeps me dry in rain and wet snow, and falling on rocks- which most people will never see.

Voyage86a quick google search shows you who the founders are. they are brothers. i can find a blog written about a ski trip from one of the at first glance. company description says that they and some friends were upset that a lot of ski gear from the US was marked up way higher in europe so they decided to start this company and make high quality affordable gear that look as good as American stuff.

bennwithtwonsWhat exactly do you mean that they’re fast fashion? All brands constantly try to come out with new stuff that people want based on what ‘trends’ they see or are trying to build. Remember when saga started making jackets with thick elastic cuffs to look more like streetwear or some bizarre varsity jacket? That shit was awful compared to their standard fare but people ate it up. They also started making wild colors and patterns in addition to the more monochromatic stuff.

As far as advertising goes, it sounds like they’re just responding to what their customers want. I don’t think that’s a unique approach.
