Just bought a fresh pair of boots for the upcoming season and needed to replace the soles(from GW to iso 5355 or whatever it's called).Today My replacement soles got here, and after removing the stock GW soles I found that the screws appeared to have ripped the plastic threads out of the bottom of the boot when they were unscrewed. I'm a bit scared that I might have messed up the boot for further sole replacements, but I'm probably just gonna throw some super glue on there and call it good. I included a few pictures below to show you what I'm talking about. Only two of them seemed to have been ripped out, the other 6 threads seem fine.
oh s#*%. I am literally about to do the exact same thing. I got new Recon 130lvs and some regular alpine soles that I need to swap on there because most of my bindings are not gripwalk. didn't even think about ripping out threads from the boot. was about to do it and then got worried about stripping the screw head with the wrong size driver. could not find that info after a search so I guess this is as good a place as any to ask @tomPietrowski , @onenerdykid
either of you all know which size driver is best?
If the screws went back in ok you will be good to go. The hole does not go fully through the shell during injection so it’s sometimes normal for a little material to come out after the first installation but just keep an eye on them if you are changing the soles regularly. Enjoy the boots!!
