Eldora is the most dangerous resort in Colorado in terms of injuries, but the terrain is so much less intense than pretty much all the rest of the resorts. Just yesterday I was skiing there with one of my bros when he fell and broke his left ankle and his right leg, like how does this shit happen on a groomer?? (It was on international btw.) He was snowboarding too! It might have something to do with the “oh it’s eldora, what can go wrong” mindset, but idk. Anyone have some insight on why it’s such a dangerous resort?
the runs there are just really narrow and with only 1 lift rn super congested. I was posted up for a second mid run and saw some skier straightlining in from the top, hit a little bump and launch 30 ft, tomahak straight into this little 4 year old and she flew up in the air and did like 3 flips 7 ft high before coming down, shit was insane haha
As their terrain is limited, I get the impression that they wanted to make as many trails as possible in every direction. If you look at the map of the trails, it's a maze of greens and blues that keep crossing and crossing again, dividing into several trails and then coming back together. There are crossings everywhere. It's total chaos when it's busy, and I think these repeated crossings partly explain their high accident rate.
In the last decade, there have been several deaths linked to collisions, including that of a 6-year-old girl.
The wind may also have something to do with it. It's systematically very windy, and all the surrounding mountains are scoured by the wind. It's rare to get fresh snow there as well; when there's a storm, the snow falls horizontally. Except in spring, the snow is usually much harder than in other Colorado resorts.
I also gotta say there is a lot of college kids doing stupid stuff, once saw a college-age dude try to use a cat track to gap a mogul section. He double ejected and basically tomahawked down the whole run. Worst part is they are 20 and indestructible, the dude just got up and hiked to his skis.

well in general, people who go on more advanced terrain are just that - more advanced. there's going to be less injuries on a black trail than a busy green trail. although it is still strange eldora is the most dangerous.

i know this probably not real, or hyperbolic to say the least, but if that was my kid i would fucking kill that jerry straightlining, dude needs to be blacklisted.
there's a guy on insta who just straighlines shit and tries to go fast, and isn't even good at skiing. got his pass pulled from killi last week for straight lining the crowded trail. i will send something from him later, he sidehits in the park too lol.

Extremely windy 90% of the time or just fucking freezing. I want to like Eldora because of their Woodward parks but everytime I go its never an absolute blast like other spots. Level 1 rail jam was cool though.
Also this, whether they are drunk or not lol. Was there last week and this Jerrygod was coming into the hike park blasting the knuckle at mach 10 just to sidejump the lips, it hurt my soul to witness :(
most dangerous skiers on the mtn are 30-40 year old "intermediate" dudes who are good enough to ski fast but not good enough to stop or turn quickly. eldora, WP, and breck/key get a shit ton of them. lawsuit central

Maybe because I’ve never had a serious incident my opinion may be wrong but suing over a skiing accident seems kinda outrageous to me, risk of injury is assumed when you buy a ticket and go riding

oh yeah don't get me started i hate ambulance chasers too. i'm talking more about gapers running into each other and turning it into a court case

What an asinine take, you don't have immunity to plow into someone. That's like saying risk of car accidents is assumed so no one is ever liable.

Proximity to Boulder/Denver. Also it's built on last that used to be owned by a witch. Her land was stolen and she was hanged. Before she was killed she put a curse on the land.

Ive never been personally, just heard stories of the place but it seems like a place with tons of the newbie crowds and drunk gaper tourist/college kid crowd which is just a bad mix when you have mellow-ish terrain and false senses of confidence. Those resorts with mellower terrain, because they can attract so many beaters in a given season, can be absolute meatgrinders of resorts to ski which is probably what Eldora has sometimes. Most accidents happen at ski areas in general on Blue and Green runs with beginner to intermediate level skiers so Im sure their Patrollers stay plenty busy

fwiw saw this guy and his brother at sugarbush on sunday... they are really bad
I've asked this question a few times, so last season after the 70 some year old woman died hitting the tree off of either muleshoe, wolf's tongue, or alpenhorn I decided to ski them to figure out why the next week.
They had whichever run she died on closed off, so I did the one by it, which I think was wolf's tongue.
Never have I skied boilerplate quite like that. My new skis were great, I went with a burly weighty pair, but had I been on my first pair of skis I would have been absolutely terrified.
My experience on that left me confused how she hit a tree. That's actually fairly difficult to do. Muleshoe has a few in the center, but not really in a challenging area.
A few weeks later I did the other ones as well with patches of what I experienced.
In the early season I've seen people jump ten feet into the air off of a kicker on hornblower just before it crosses above international; essentially on a catwalk.

Yeah dude I ski there a lot and there’s all sorts of weird accidents caused by jerries tryna gap stuff when it’s clearly a busy and dangerous area

is there an article or info about this available?
i have noticed saint marys glacier is prone to taboo...
It's definitely the wind/ice. Most people in Colorado really don't learn how to ski ice because we never need to... Except at Eldora. I am sure there's a curse or something, all the little towns in that area have a weird aura to them.
You gotta go to Eldora, me and the boys load up in my buddy Jeremy’s Bimmer and get there from Boulder in about 5 minutes. You ever been to Boulder bro? It’s fucking sick dude. We mack on chicks all over town with and then we head up to Eldora and mack on chicks there too. Ever heard the chainsmokers bro? They’re the sickest band ever, and they love Boulder.
Is your prude wife not into macking on chicks? Well you’re in luck, since Eldora has the steepest, deepest, raddest, sickest terrain found anywhere in this fucking galaxy you can ditch your lame wife in a tree well and go mack on chicks until she swims her way out of there. Or doesn’t, know what I’m sayin?
Either way playboy hit me up when you come to Mecca and I’ll set you up with some fire K ya dig? You’ll be macking all day with that fat sack of K

Nederland is just weed shops. Thats when you know a culture has gone to the shitter and died. Weed aint bad but that towns got no culture anymore.

Jesus I feel bad giving any views to those videos. If you can't even keep your shoulders square, you have no right to call yourself an "athlete" lmao my god
Its definitly cursed. I fell kinda hard on a 2 on last week and I rolled up my sleeve to see that I reopened a surgical scar from two years ago. I didnt scrap my arm Im pretty sure it was just the impact that did it. probably the weirdest injury I have ever got.

Could make one. Do you prefer documentary or blair witch found foootage shaky camera thriller? Or flashlight to the face in the dark spooky ghost stories. NS is lacking much media budget after partnering with James Camera for Avatar 3. Where the climate shifts from all the mining and the blue man group people start shredding the gnar. Gonna be sick actually
