So went to the doctors this morning about a thumb injury (skiers thumb) and theyve told me my Ulnar collateral ligament is fully torn and theyre gonna operate on monday, put me in a full arm cast for 6 weeks, and no sports for 3 months.
now the doctor was very set in this and as such wouldnt discuss the possibilty (which i understand is medically correct). however, i am likely to get only one week of skiing this year which, for one ive already paid for (1000£:() and this is in almost exactly 4 weeks.
the way i see it is that if i am in a plaster cast and i wrap the hand and arm in shirts and jumpers, then again in tape, the thumb will be so tightly bound and secure that the risk of recurring the injury will be >5% and thus im willing to take the risk. im not sure if impact can damage a ligament, or just flexion? anyone got any advice/opinions as to how i can do this
P.S. I dont need people calling me dumb i understand that it is but skiing is basically the only thing i live for and the thumb on my non-dominant hand really doesnt seem that important to me (again dumb but idc).
