You have the right idea with the diagonal boards to create a smooth transition to flat, you just need more and bigger. Do the same with the takeoff, and don’t worry too much about losing speed if it’s a small lip. If you plan on making a bigger lip, then just make the transition as smooth as possible with the diagonal boards.
