He has a real job owning and operating 1000. The same can't be said for many of the kids filming street videos, so give credit where it's due.

I also don't really see the issue with these videos. All I see is more hate from members that fall well short of Hackel's athletic and entrepeneurial achievements. Like it or not, but these personalized videos grow the sport's audience far more than most content on NS.

Cool and all running a ski company but you could be doing it the proper way instead of just feeding into the GenZ-like crowd so obsessed with social media and validation. Plus their skis are stupid fucking expensive and allegedly hold up like shit especially for the price.


just so disappointing seeing a literal fucking goat like Hackel completely flip the page to some shit like this. Almost a feeling of betrayal.

I think it’s a little early to be praising his entrepreneurial achievements, I get pretty desperate vibes from a lot of 1000 skis marketing

This. I totally understand what Hackel's trying to do and the unfortunate state of what it takes to make money off skiing, but he's doing it in the cringiest, most uninspired way possible

Honestly, I watched a couple of his videos and the vlog ones really aren't that bad. Also his mom comments on his videos and that is very sweet.

If I could travel around the world and make money while skiing at the expense of having to make some vlog/reaction content I would do it in a heartbeat. Caring about what people think about you on newschoolers is way more cringey than making some videos to help keep the dream alive.

1yr prediction. He learns and commits to the sad yt/tiktok world he is trying to profit on. And we lose one of the best skiers to profiteering off socials.

We just aren't the market. I don't think this is his lane but something might stick and go viral. Pockets of the internet love 1000 skis because of what he puts out. Alex is out here living a lot of people on NS's dream... own ski company and a peak performance deal. Makes sense why y'all love to hate on him lol

How is this wack? I didnt watch yet but looks like he has a video breaking down his own clips from different segments, which sounds awesome. No different than someone chopping it up on a podcast, probably better cause you can see the clips being discussed. Pretty sure hackel did a podcast breaking down his eat the guts part a while back and it was sick. Corny youtube thumbnails and titles are whatever, bro needs to pay the bills, but this does not look like tiktok style content at all

I agree that we aren’t the target audience, but what’s strange about that to me is that we are definitely the audience that made him famous in the first place. Which is why it almost feels like some sort of betrayal, but I think that’s too harsh cause he can do whatever tf he wants and doesn’t actually owe us anything.

I will believe 1000 skis is a popular company when I start seeing them at the hill. Internet clout doesn’t mean shit if you can’t actually sell a physical product. And you can miss me with that “you guys are just jealous” garbage, I am living my own dream and I am in no way jealous of a man who makes wack influencer content for a living LOL

Ayo I just watched his reaction to Colby Stevenson's video, shit was mad good?!

I thought it was super interesting how he was able to break down the right side/left side switch/regs tricks, (which I never would have picked up on myself) and also explained why switch dub 12 is so much harder than 9. I also thought it was super dope and humble how he was like "oh I can't do that". Even when he mentions small stuff lie "oh he's hit that jump a couple times", its cool to see someone also at such a high level be able to break stuff down like that.

Unfortunately we don't move the needle to build athlete brands as much as before. Slight betrayal but theres not much more he can get from us. Look at surf industry, a lot of those guys keep relevance through YouTube channels and podcasts. More skiers should be doing that if they want to make $ long term. Worked for Jon

If i remember correctly he speaks swedish fluently. Swedish has pretty strong accent.

That and learning any new language in a total immersion environment is going to have an effect on your L1 pronunciation and sentence structure; I’ve had students go stay with family in China for instance for the summer as native English speakers but come back to school in the fall dropping “s” for plural because plurals in most dialects of Chinese work differently so a sentence like “I’ll have three apple” makes grammatical sense in Chinese similar to how moose functions in English (A moose/6 moose).


I imagine speaking Swedish in your daily life and work especially in a technical field with its own specific jargon would create a similar transfer of language features between L1 and L2

by the way, he lives in Innsbrook Austria, is 100% fluid in Swedish, verbally and written. And also knows bits and pieces of many other European languages so when you pick up his accent it’s real.

Nah man. By the time ur 18 ur accent is pretty much locked in. I Have two European immigrant parents that sounds just as foreign as ever. I’ve spent the majority of my adult life in UK/Europe and I still sound just as American as I ever have. Also speak German/danish. Only thing that ever really changes is ur sentence structure and maybe ur dialect / word choice.

I honestly think hackle is bugging with his accent.

No I've definitely skied at other places than hyland lol. But most of the 10 y/o park kids at hyland are probably better than you so i would stay quiet 🤐 . Also W the profile view just to make a point, where do you mainly ski?
