How bad is it to ski 95 underfoot with 115 mm brake width bindings?

I have 115 brakes on my 97mm park skis atm. It takes a bit of getting used to if you ski with your feet together and you will for sure get a few heart attacks when your brakes stick together out of the blue.

It is not the optimal situation but not a real deal breaker either.

You can probably replace the brakes with new ones. I’ve seen them online but you might want to get a technician to install it.

For reference. Here is a 95 on a 99waist. And a 115 on a 108 waist.

swapping brakes is fairly easy. I’d source 95’s and swap.

if they are pivots and that oversized you'll probably catch them in the snow skiing backwards and ruin the brake assembly eventually

i wouldn't do it. that's a ton of overhang and can catch, and switching brakes on pivots is kind of a PITA so even if you find the right size brakes it's doubtful you'll come out saving money in the end

I've done a 110 onto an 86 waisted because it was all I had. I won't be doing it again if I don't have to, but it wasn't impossible and I didn't notice 75% of the time

zraI found some cheap pivots but this seems a bit extreme especially when I’ve seen you can go down 5-10mm from your underfoot size. I know you can do some amount of bending, but is this even feasible? Will I look like a clown with my brakes hanging off?

As stated you will find they get stuck together at times, and even just side stepping etc they will catch on yer pants and so on, leading to the brake arm getting bent and potentially damaged further, or simply dragging in the snow. Best to get the right size for the ski. That said some arms on brake fold away much better than others. Salomon for example sort of fold up and then in toward the centre of the ski, so will be less of a problem, Look on the other hand do not fold away at all, so need to be almost the precise width of the ski. I have both types of binding, and even though my pivots are brake width of exact to the ski, they still get caught a little now and then in trouser leg etc. Its a poor bit of design by Look really and could easy be changed. The Salomon brake is about 3mm wider than the Volkl Revolt 87 I have and never do they get caught up in clothing or the other ski while sidestepping etc... design is everything.
