Trying to decide between the locator and raven for a touring ski that I can still charge down some big slopes on. Any suggestions or experience with either ski is welcomed!
My brother @TBONE902 has the locators. They are insanely light. Judging by just the weight, shape, and based on my experience with 4frnts, the ravens will for sure charge harder. The locators seem like awesome skis but more of a super lightweight, mellow touring ski
For sure I doubt even the widest width is very beefy, I have the 88's which are extra light but I'd say the 96 and 104 are a good weight to downhill performance ratio depending on how far you're planning on walking. I've never skied them but my friends who have the 4frnt set ups really like them so I don't think you can go wrong either way
Super different skis. The Locator is way lighter (300+ grams lighter per ski), has much more sidecut, and is cambered. It'll be easier to drag uphill, will provide more grip on firm conditions, and will feel more nimble in tight spots.
The Raven will float better, feel more stable and damp, be looser / more surfy, and will be more comfortable making big turns.
