Why can’t FIS schedule races in southern hemisphere

So there’s a massive deal being made rn about FIS destroying glaciers to make runs for competitions but what I don’t understand is why tf can they not schedule races in the southern hemisphere.. Chile, Argentina. Australia, NZ??! Like their seasons normally run to October?..
I get that that involves other climate complications such as putting 1000 people on planes over half the world, but surely this is a viable solution?
also the finals are in like march? Couldn’t they just shift all the events 3 weeks forward? All of Europe is so skiable in April.. it normally doesn’t start to thaw until late April?
Anyone else thinking the same things?

i believe the resorts pay FIS to have coomps there, if not officially than at least unofficially :) It's a big advertisement for the resort. Resorts in southern hemisphere don't care as much - the sport is not as popular there to justify the spending

so its about money whod have guessed lol. still though youd imagine maybe perisher and some of the bigger argentine resorts might?

I gave up entirely on FIS after those depressing jokes of "Venues" they built for Beijing 2022, but hey at least big daddy Xi was satisfied.

I can confirm that resorts foot the bill for these comps. Not just races, but freestyle events like Dew Tour, XGames, etc. are constructed and maintained by the hosts. Sure, the tour sponsors build the grandstands and vendor villages, but the resorts allocate up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in labor and infrastructure to support these races/comps. In the age of social media, it's gotten less and less viable to prove ROI hosting these events. This is why we're seeing areas like Breck and Vail to get out of Dew and Burton Open...

The mademade snow for an event like that costs upwards of 200k so yes, hundreds of thousands.

Snowmaking is surprisingly expensive. Not sure on snow volumes needed for a pipe and kicker but I know for Bittersweet, a small Midwest hill with ~150 guns cost around $7000 an hour to operate at it's capacity.

In the SH there is very little interest in WC skiing. The money comes from EU and USA.
Agreed they could easily start later and run until later. I guess the resorts that pay want early season to get peoples attention to go skiing early in the season. More snow and options in Europe during Easter than during Christmas, but because of the Christmas holiday people want to go ski that time of year. Very little people go skiing in March and April compared to the rest of the season. Resorts do not promote that, idiots..

also seems kinda stupid that FIS wouldnt try to promote WC in the southern hemisphere - its a huge market to expand into - especially in AUS and NZ id imagine? and im sure most resorts wouldnt turn down the publicity
