It doesn't matter how cool you are

I think every action sport has a lot to learn from Ilia Savosin, not that anything he represents is really new. When he needs to be stylish and dress normally for a cookie-cutter video part he will, but when it comes time to play the character he's created he doesn't hold back. He's a pure absurdist, making a fool of himself on the internet for clicks, but is blissfully self aware and doesn't give a fuck what you say because he knows his talent is pretty unmatched. Its created some of the craziest content and most enjoyable stuff on the internet.

I think if good skiers gave less of a fuck and strayed from the formula it would only result in quality vids dropping. When I do deep dives in the skiing content-verse, the only people who have kind of stayed away from making traditional videos (street cuts, park edits, backcountry segments) are the Line Traveling Circus, who follow a very similar model that Savo does. And guess what, they were wildly successful and still are (in terms of making projects people love).

So I guess the moral of this is just that I think it would be cool to see people doing more insane shit. A lot of people are good, but not everyone is crazy, and its starting to show. Also I'm not saying everyone has to do this, I'll never bash the traditional bangers that drop cuz theyre still amazing too, but its always nice to have variety and I think it's cool when people do whatever they want because they are so incredibly talented that no one can tell them shit.

Dont be afraid to be corny, and respect to any of the clowns running their circuses, I appreciate you.
