See if your school has a ski club they often offer hefty discounts on passes and reasonable transportation

Honestly the only reason I started skiing in the backcountry is because I can’t afford CO resort prices, but I’ve never looked back. So much better to be out in the wild away from the daddy’s money “oh my god stop smoking cigs near my dog” Breck crowd. If you can find a cheap pair of touring skis and have access to avalanche education/an experienced partner then 100% recommend trying it out. Depends where you live tho are you from Wyoming?

Get a job in a ski shop and join a school ski team. Fix your skis for free, pro deals, pass/ticket discounts. Ski team gives you more discounts hopefully and at a minimum a carpool to the mountain to save some gas bucks

UW in seattle? If so join husky snow club - discounted ikon/epic, rideshare program for students, and subsidized holiday trips to different resorts.

Skiing is expensive and its a bummer. Looking into some students deals and stuff is a good idea. I always find just biting the bullet and getting a seasons pass is best. Or tour off resort.

But yeah when it comes to meals man I fed myself on beans and rice mostly though college. Get dried beans and straight rice in bulk, most stores have 20kg bags that shit is like $20 and lasts at least 2 weeks if youre eating round 2 cups of each a day. Then go to bulk barn and go down the spice isle and pick whatever smells good its also super cheap. Not some gourmet meals but its super solid fuel, youre getting plenty fats carbs and protien for cheap.

If you have a dining hall you can easily leave with 2-3 additional meals from one visit. Backpack and plastic bags, baby.
