New daymakers

Has anyone seen the new daymakers with pins?

my initial thoughts are that:

-it looks sleeker and better engineered than the previous version
-It still weighs 530 per ski.
-stand over height is still a massive issue.
-it is still more expensive than a frame binding.

I think the new tekadapters have the potential to be a game changer. Being able to use any ski you own with downhill bindings is best case scenario, also with the ability to share an extra pair with a friend who's new to touring is great.

Unfortunately for me I switched to skis after being tired of booting out on my snowboards. I only just noticed in time in October that my BSL is 356mm and apparently is above the maximum for the tekadapters. Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Does anyone have a tekadapters owner's manual they could post in here?

jesus christ are you Shaq? What size boots do you have? 32s?


youre over a cm larger than their topout size. I doubt there is much you can do

lol I only wear size 13 shoes. My boots are salomon shift pro 130 At at 30/31.5 and I got fitted when I got them.

Shoes are whack. I wear a size 13 street and wear a 28.5 (325 bsl) boot

They sure are.

Good news though, Chris from Daymaker got ahold of me and Daymaker has an upgrade to the tekadapters that swaps the teloscopic tubes out for a custom carbon fiber tube to accommodate my boots for $70. I may give that a shot or just grab a pair of marker dukes.

The point of these is that you only need to buy one set ever whereas 1 touring binding can only be used on 1 ski, it’s far far cheaper. As soon as you are using two different skis to tour with you are spending 3 times as much as the day maker if you were to buy cast or pin bindings for both of those skis. The other main point is that you have a full downhill binding on your ski to rip worry free as hard as you like back down. As good as CAST is it just can never be as good as a full time downhill binding. Because of the freedom on the downhill and the versatility of buying one set that can be used to tour on an infinite amount of skis, the extra weight on the uphill is a no brainer worth it for me. I will be buying these when the right time comes.

If you’re using cast on a touring ski you’re already doing it wrong.

N41v131355yeah, kinda silly... Why would you go for daymakers, if you can buy Shifts for 400 which fit 90% of riders? If you are 10% and ski really hard, CAST conversion kit is now 299.


I wouldn't recommend shifts to anyone as I had a bad experience.

None at all. Ive been dailying the same cast setup for years in bounds. Rails, big mountain, and everywhere in between. Havent noticed the toepiece at all.

Ive been on a cast 1.0 setup every day this season and have had zero issues, was interested to know what issues he'd had (or was going to make up)

Id put money on that he hasnt skied cast…probably just head a reddit finance bro eho bought shifts poo poo on cast.

only “real” issue ive had with them is on the uphill- need to clear all the snow or the brakes wont lock
