Sooo been building a little summer pvc pipe. A drop-in ramp that is similar to the ladder in the real skifi van (with pvc over the steps), than a small kicker with artificial turf and then the pvc pipe. While building went through several version of the drop-in ramp as there was not enough speed and then one day we figured out the speed is good enough. Slide a couple of times and call it a day.
A week or two later decide to do a proper session and ... speed is not enough and we can't slide the full pipe.
Figured out it must be how we prep the surfaces. Turf gets some soap and some water and slides better than I ever expected. But this last time the PVC ladder steps and the pipe itself were not sliding well. While building and testing we would just water them a bit. And when we thought construction is finished we waxed them with ski wax and I have a feeling this is what actually made them sticky and slow? Could it be? We also tried skateboarder wax and it seemed even stickier.
So what do you do on your summer setups, do you wax them and if yes - what wax do you use? Or should I scrape the wax and only sprinkle some water over? How about the skis themselves? Looking for tips.
