New lifts in Steamboat

When Alterra took over Steamboat, I noted that the existing lift system couldn't handle the influx on new pass holders. I was roasted by a bunch of people. Luckily the people with the 200 million dollars agreed with me, Now we have 2 new gondolas, 2 new quads and 600 new acres of expert terrain and a completely new base area. Steamboats moving up the food chain.

Pretty excited for the mahogany ridge terrain. Didn't realize it was gonna be so much hike back stuff though

my friend zoe went to mtn school there. So jealous that even tho she isn’t a park skier she’d go fuck around with friends in the night park and then have steamboat to go do things in

a lot of locals are not happy about this expansion because our beloved Fish Creek Canyon sidecountry will now be accessible by lift, we had an amazing time last season exploring that canyon but personally I think this is huge. if anyone pulls up to steamboat this winter hmu we would love to show you the best zones :)

are they maintaining that new shit? i’ve heard fish creek can get sketch, seems dumb to let “side country” skiers over there

Judging by the trail map only the very bottom of the canyon past the cliffs will be inbounds, not so extreme contrary to their claim. It appears that the real gnarly stuff off gates 2 and 3 will remain sidecountry. The new lift drops off right at the top of a 200 foot cliff if you go skier's right in the woods, so it'll be interesting to see how they deal with that.
