Can be hit or miss. Some seasons I live in places and tour a lot woth people. Other times nobody really wants to go out. If you have good terrain around you and friends that are down it can be sick.

Also fb groups everywhere of people touring if looking for spots or peoples. Some proper legends, some total jabronis. Same as it ever was.

Not buying a pass works out better if you have a cheap mtn near by or friends that can get you the occasional pass.

ended up touring 2/4 days a week but missed so many awesome days w the dawgs inbounds

Because most of my friends with touring setups refuse to take an avy class or buy avy gear. Also parks with good rails are hard to come by in the backcountry. Anyway, if anyone in NH wants to do some touring hit me up.

Quality matters.
I have yet to go no-resort skiing for a season. one year I thought I might, and my then girlfriend's parents got me a pass for x mas! yep, I put a ring on that.

I've been thinking about a no pass season. Touring, backyard, some day tickets here and there, and maybe this old man will get into hitting the streets to round it off.

Would be easier to commit to in a non-east coast setting.

This is a super fair point. But also you dont need a touring setup to get out and have a great time in the woods. Most of my “backcountry” days are just booting my alpine setup to a mound, building a jump and having a ball.

an AT setup takes investment. but then you have it for a few years. then you upgrade and have a rock ski AT setup, which is even better.
