QuaggyI currently own several headlamps and the Petzl Actik is by far the best IMO
IsaacNW82no recommendations on what specific headlamp to use, but one thing a local ski patroller does that I've been meaning to copy is modifying his headlamps to attach to a gopro mount, which I think is a genius idea
verynormalguyI’ve been using the biolite 800 pro for night touring. Works great, plenty of light for night skiing, especially in the 30 second burst mode. Fits great over a helmet.
keep in mind when you’re looking at headlamps for night touring that run time is less important than you’d think. Most nights there’s enough ambient light to walk uphill with the headlamp on an extremely low setting or completely off. Youll only need to run it at the highest setting when you’re actually skiing downhill.
also be aware that headlamps are useless if it’s nuking out.. a super bright headlight will illuminate all of the snow a few feet in front of your face and make it impossible to see where you’re going. Similar effect to when they hit hyperspace in the millennium falcon lol
jompcockAnyone have any recommendations? Gonna be using it for touring and night skiing some trees.
