This edit was a 72mm .3x with 2 step down rings (already had it from my hmc150 and didn’t want to buy another when I don’t use it much anyways). If you don’t care about the vignette which I cropped out anyways it’s not bad, in my camera it was offset a bit and not great, not sure if that’s because of the spacers or the sensor in my hcx1000 being out of wack.

you'll probably end up with a bigger vignette that you'll have to zoom through or crop in post, so unless you want it to look like your watching the skiing through a telescope the 58mm would probably be better option.

My favorite lens to use with it is a is a century optics DVX-FEWA wide angle that I glued a threaded ring into, but those are getting really hard to find cheap, also no vignette if that's what your looking for

Yea I had the same issue when I was using my X1000 I would stack filter than zoom in a bit until I was able to get my hands on that 49mm-52mm step up. I believe the few clips in this were filmed zoomed through a bunch of step up rings.`2:12-2:18
