I’m looking for a camera to use on an urban edit this season, and I found a Hitachi VM-E52A for 250$ Cad on marketplace. I can’t seem to find any reviews online so I was wondering if anyone here has worked with this camera or has info about it. Any help would be appreciated
Do the 8 mm, it will be expensive and/or annoying to get the film transferred to digital footage but I can't think of anyone who's made an urban video entirely on 8 mm. I'd love to see it. But yes any device that takes video will work fine.
You could get a better hi8 camera for less than that, however knowing you have a working hi8 with batteries is nice.
careful with used super 8, sometimes the motor is dusted and wont operate at the right framerate. And some use batteries for their light meter that are too high voltage (in 2023) and wont accurately read exposure - just keep that in mind. at ~$80/2.5 mins you want it to be solid
