BreknridgeKidNew to park skiing, have been focused on jumps and spinning. Only have hit boxes and wanting to try rails this season. How should I detune my skis and how will it effect my carving performance. I am on K2 Poachers. I also want to learn butters and shit, should I detune tips and tails?
jompcockLearn how to use a directional mill bastard file and dull the shit out of your skis at a 45º angle running along the edge. Dull them the most binding to binding but the rest of the ski helps too. Skiing the mtn with really dull skis only forces you to improve your skiing. More knee angle, better balance, actually paying attention to what snow in front of you has some grip in it etc. My edges are incapable of cutting skin and I can carve totally fine on anything that isn't solid ice.

KilaTsunami^^^ also add a gummy stone your ski bag to detune further at the mountain if you still need more off. Perfect advice tho
Bernie585If you're on the east just ski them for a day, they'll get detuned pretty quick on the ice.
