Remote Jobs For Ski Bums

Has anyone locked down a mellow remote job that has a minimal barrier to entry? No need for crazy pay. Just looking for something that will pay enough to live and ski every day.

a lot of medical scribes are remote now, probably doesn’t pay shit though. Don’t need as much medical knowledge as you’d think, you just need to be able to type really fast. That or a language line interpreter if you happen to speak spanish

has a barrier to entry but any software job. Less barrier would be IT.

Im full remote doing software and I just work 4-10s during the winter. Alot of skiers I know (and this could be utah influenced mormons) but do solar sales in the summer, make $$$ and ski all winter.

Yup!

Any outside sales role is this you're totally unsupervised and make your own schedule.

I'd suggest not sucking at it and you do have to drive around and visit people make cold calls answer your phone follow up etc some of the time.

Very few young people with experience in sales for a lot of industries and its retired boomers who haven't actually retired holding these positions. You'll advance quickly if you find the right niche.

Working on oil rigs got me a lot of money and a lot of ski time. Often 2 weeks of/2 weeks off etc so you get plenty of prime days to shred, wherever.

maybe I’m jaded but I imagine the only available remote jobs someone lands off a job search is either going to be low pay, or you will be very busy mon-Fri

My buddy owns a solar company. Born and raised Mormon lmao

Someone I went to high school with that was kind of a fuck up got into solar sales and installation, ended up starting a solar install company and now has like 30 employees. Not the kind of turnkey that would allow him to take time off for an entire winter but seems like most of the work he does at this point is remote management and scheduling.

Also learn to code.

Dude the market is f’ed rn for software engineer. Half of companies are laying off and outsourcing or just using Shopify or Wordpress. It’s a struggle rn.

but what I’ve heard is once you’re in, you’re in, I finally got somewhat of a start in tech but as an intern

Of course that is the case for entry level. Once you get experience and exposure to certain industries you can leave for better/remote/higher paying jobs and snake your way up the pyramid jumping to competitors or other related companies to what you 'know.'

Just find a cool industry and learn it and move up. Staying with the same company and in the same role for a long ass time is dumb AF.

best remote job advice I could give would be an radiologist oral pathology interpreter. One of my faculty did that from his airplane hanger before he taught at our school and it sounds like hella chill vibes. Can do it anywhere with internet and its great pay.

anything personal assistant or office administrator can be done online; pretty chill and not terrible pay, but they are really very difficult to get - i'm trying now to lock one down but since you can only apply online its difficult, i have a couple of friends who are office admins in the uk and live in canada and have no problem with the timing of it.

Anything drafting/GIS related tends to have good pay, is somewhat interesting, and can be done remote.

Hell yeah. Happy that this info will be available for all else. Sounds like medical, sales and tech are optimal but there's moves for the blue collar worker in your life too. I ended up getting a less than ideal remote job at a health care company. Too much work M-F. I'm gonna look into some outside sales jobs as that's right up my alley. Best case is making your own hours so you can just work in the evenings when its dark and you're polishing off a beer.

The math on that job doesn’t add up and shame on anyone who suggests boots over the internet. They try to get customers to tip you and bring you in that way. I did the onboarding years ago and didn’t do a single shift because the whole setup was sus as hell.

Also, the guy who was supposed to interview me for my “final test” didn’t even show the first time. All in all, I’m so not impressed with that platform. Yeah, if you really need extra money - try it. But it seems most walk away with peanuts from that place. Plus the commission is pathetically low and you’re graded on your conversions (iirc) which determines your commission. It’s the age old sales style of game of numbers. Most sink, some swim.

I hate that they act like it’s an exclusive custom tailored setup. It’s not.


The “pros” they advertise working for them are, for sure, on a different payment plan. That place is a joke.
