SlushSeasonFor food, there's nothing really remarkable here.
The beer's pretty good though. All the local breweries make good amber ales
CoolChillGuy420Swig. so many hot Mormons too
Jemsi’m actually curious if these soda places are actually that good? is it the mormons that keep them in business or are the flavors legitimately good/unique?
SlushSeasonIt's just starbucks/boba for teenage girls that can't have coffee or tea
PacificRimJobI have never been impressed with anything I've eaten in Utah.
They somehow took a section the desert southwest, which is generally filled with remarkable Mexican establishments, and decided that plain, white, best-foods mayonnaise was the only spicy thing allowed.
IanAvery-Leafunfortunately average Utahns love junk, fried fast food is everywhere and traffic spilling out of their drive-thrus is significant. Also lots of sneaky junk portrayed as healthy like vessel, chipotle, etc
best ingredients I've found in the valley so far is Redmond Farm Kitchen in Sugarhouse
eheaththere are tons of non-chain food places, who cares what mormons like? there are tons of non-mormons in SLC, they make great food.
OP is a troll, but I'll humor the thread with an answer. SLC has some of the best mexican food in the west, sneaky good asian food and plenty of great high end eateries that are likely out of the price range for most people on this website. State street alone between downtown and milcreek has tons of amazing hole in the wall food places.
mikemwhere asian food?

Farmville420People told me the same about denver but the food here is good nobody even tries they just move somewhere and then complain for the sake of complaining
eheaththats because you actually don't know anything about utah dude
foolmetwiceCurry fried chicken, the taco truck on state street and 800 S, Central 9th market (focaccia breakfast sandos), filling and emulsions (super good and affordable cuban bakery), asia palace (spicy pho), fast break gas station in downtown (amazing fried chicken for $2.50 a piece) many more but I’m drawing a blank. These are all within a mile or so of eachother. SLC is not a great food city but all the chains and strip malls make it seem worse than it is. Lots of sleeper hole in the walls
PacificRimJobI've just never been impressed by places people seemed to rave about.
eheathDid they recommend you go to Crown Burger or something?
charcharbinksCrown Burger hits after a long day of skiing and sitting in gridlock traffic not gonna lie
eheathwell ya if you want a fast food burger its great, but it gets far too much hype, its just a burger.
SlushSeasonIt's great, but it's like 40% too expensive. With several in n outs around going to crown just doesn't make sense
eheathima say it, in and out isnt that good.

mikemAlso Little Saigon in sugarhouse. The owners super cool and blesses up skiers/snowboarders. They got a nice poster of the Jet Skis slc kids and good food
oldmanskiThe Pie. Its a pizza place downtown. Years ago it was a cool little local place but now it has become more touristy but its worth the pie. Like mentioned above, it is full of fast, drive-through fried food. There are the occasional real Mexican places but they are kind of a hit or miss.
skiermanhahahahaha The Pie was never known for good food, it was only known for servicing drunk retards like oldmanski. Go to Molcasalsa. Oh wait, that's closed forever? Well go to Lucky 13, you fucking idiot.

theabortionatorI haven't gotten much Mexican food in SLC but "some of the best in the west" seems like a pretty bold claim. Will give it a try next time I head that way.
SlushSeasonYeah that's definitely an overstatement. Slc has some decent Mexican food, but I haven't found anything outstanding and on average it's pretty bland
eheathHave you only been to betos or something? SLC has amazing Mexican food.
SlushSeasonThere are some decent spots, like Chile Tepin or The Spanglish up in Layton.
The real issue is on the low end. Beto's and Rancheritos are really bland compared to equivalent chains elsewhere in the southwest. Similarly cafe Rio and Costa Vida are ok, but their sauces are underspiced and oversweetened to fit the mormons' tastes.
On average, I like the Mexican food in CA, AZ, and NM a lot more.

BradFiAusNzCoCaPeople who rag on Denver food are just not trying or exploring at all. My one friend always talks about how great Charleston, sc food is and how much denver food sucks. I’ve lived in both. Surprise: he hasn’t lived in Charleston and last restaurant he mentioned to me from there is a known tourist trap lol
I am jaded by the “Denver food sucks” argument
