Hey NS family,

Dr. Nick here, sports and ortho physical therapist. Winter is coming and I plan to be a hit more active here.

I have some sort of sciatica issue where of I raise my left leg I get a really sharp stabbing pain in the back of my hip. I think it might be from a bulging disc but idk. Any stretches or exercises for me?

GetshiftyHey I've been dealing with Patellar tendinopathy since July, didn't get serious about it until late August. Saw improvement but regressed recently because I tried to go into plyometrics / sport to early. I've moved back to heavy isometrics twice a day that target quads, hamstring, and soleus calf to strengthen the muscles around the tendon and introduce load without high rate of movement. I've been following Jake Tuuras Jumpers Knee Protocol not sure if you know it, its a 4 stage processes of high weight isos, then lifting, then store and release (plyometrics), and finally return to sport. Thoughts on this program? Going to go back to lifting in a week when the daily pain goes down to 1/10, currently around 3-4/10.


Any progress with that program so far? I'm dealing with similar knee problems from a surgery last winter

I'm knocking on wood as I write and post this, but I'm 28 and have had no major knee issues. Lately when I squat one of my knees sounds like rice krispies, I'm used to the typical pop here and there when i squat but this is different. Aside from keeping an eye on it, what should I do?

Yep it's slowly getting better, getting back in the gym this week after doing an isometric program for the past 2ish weeks. Highly recommend following Jumpers Knee Protocol by Jake Tuura. There's a section of my patellar tendon that has scar tissue, feels like a hard ridge. Fluid would build up around it when did too much loading and the isometrics help push out the fluid and allow load into the injured part of the tendon. The size of the ridge has reduced about 50% and my knee feels stronger.
