Hi guys, I'll tell you right away, I'm not someone who often asks for help, but at the moment I have no choice.
I am a Ukrainian from the city of Sumy who wants to get to the USA.
Before I could not dream of such a thing, but now I have an opportunity.
What does this have to do with the ski forum? You ask.
I am a snowboarder, I have been skiing for only 2 years, but I am good at it and I like to do it.
Now I am in Germany, there is a ski pavilion not far from me, where I often ski.
I have been living in Germany for almost a year, we all know why I left Ukraine.
It so happens that I have a dream to get to the USA, I could come up with a reason why I should get to the USA, but I won't do it.
I just have a dream, because I like life in the USA, people who live in the USA and so on.
In order to get to the USA and get a housing permit and a work permit I have to find a "sponsor" under the program for Ukrainians "U4U" who will make an invitation for me.
I will not ask for material assistance, but only for help with documents, namely this invitation.
I hope that I will get more for this ski season in the USA)
If there are anyone willing to help me, I would be very grateful.

He means a sponsor in the sense of someone vouching that he’s deserving of us citizenship not some free twigs lol, but free skis never hurts

Not familiar with the visa, actually know less about US visa than a lot of other countries. Are you able to apply to ski areas on that?

I'm currently on a sponsored skills visa in New Zealand. I know the US is harder than a lot of places sometimes. They scaled back the h2b visa a bunch. It still exists a bit I believe but rarer and only for particular jobs.

Idk what the logistics of the visa you're trying to get is but this is mostly degerate skiers, a few snowboarders. Maybe like 75% based in US and Canada but also a lot of kids.

I would say maybe look in with the visa and see if there's anything helpful as far as programs toward jobs. For other countries there are visas that kind of steer youtoward an industry that needs people and you can stay for a bit.

Also check into working holiday visa for NZ and Australia. Depends on the country but if your country is on there its pretty easy to get and you can come gor 1 year to NZ and a 6month i think to Australia. Can only get each once. With farm work you can stay longer. I've done ski seasons in both.

The US can be pretty tricky to get into and I don't think any of us know enough about it to be too helpful.

Op, I can respect your promise to financially support yourself, however there is no guarantee your work visa will be approved or that you'll get a job or a job that can support you. The process only states that you'll be eligible to apply for a work visa. Supporters must be able to show proof that they can financially support you.



I would recommend posting on Reddit to get a larger audience and because the demographic there is more likely to have people who can afford this.

Newschoolers is unlikely to have the people you seek. It's largely teens, broke ass ski bums, middle class ski bums whose budget is fragile enough for gas prices to ruin, some people doing shit the government wouldn't appreciate, some financially stable folks, and a few wealthy lurkers. You might get lucky if someone here has a connection. I wonder if anyone with ski resort connections could find a sponsor that way?

I hope this works out. Please continue to stay active on this account. I'm sure people would be down to meet up and ski/board.
