GrapeHunterCurrently have a pair of FKS 18 apart for a custom paint job. Do you have 15/18 FKS/Pivots? If not, don't bother painting. The 12/14's are plastic and won't look good painted, and they wont last. Lets assume you have 15/18's...
1. Pop out DIN window, pushing plastic tabs in the bottom of toe piece.
2. Unscrew front DIN screw all the way until it falls out. Pull toe piece off post. Remove guts of toe piece.
3. Remove baseplates from heel piece with a #3 screw driver. You can't get the heel bar off the heel, just so you know. Unscrew heel DIN until it starts to lift the plastic heel cap. Lift the plastic cap over the pin that's in the lower right front of the plastic heel piece. Pull plastic heel off heel base.
4. Sand everything, clean, prime, paint, clear.
5. Reassemble. Make sure you give the paint/clear plenty of time to cure thoroughly, like a week if using spray paint. Don't rush it or you'll have to start all over.
Check out Crasheur.com for inspo and custom DIN windows while you have them apart. Mike is the man and I can 100% vouch for good products and great customer service.
PattolanMost you can ask for is a solid season with paint on them but they still won’t look very great towards the end
