It sounds like Frisco might be a good option for you. It's only ~10 minute drive to Copper and it will have everything you could want there like bars and restaurants and there's also the adventure park for non-skiing activities. If your family doesn't ski, then I assume they are pretty lame and would enjoy going to crowded places like Breck to shop or do whatever people do there, which is only ~15 drive. You can also take the free bus from Frisco to Copper or anywhere else in the county if you won't have a car.
That being said, there's still plenty of non-skiing activities in Copper if you'd prefer not to have to deal with transportation at all. Vail's also only ~15 minutes from Copper if your family needs some furs.
