I don't think they get any snow on that side of the mountain. It's basically the back of the Wasatch

100%, deer valley was suppose to be "in charge" of their snowmaking, and now theyre running the resort. not that surprising.

So DV is taking over Mayflower? Terrain doesn't seem that exciting, but that's based of my highway view a few times. Don't know if it's good or bad overall since DV attracts a certain crowd different from the general public or locals.

Wrong. The terrain at DV has delivered for locals for a while and I'm happy they're finally catering to the season pass holders who have been asking for this expansion for so long. Thank you, Deer Valley!

its kinda wack. I think they just want to advertise the size, its all east facing slopes at lower elevation.

But DV is a sleeper resort for 3 days after pow days. Also great people watching, I rolled into the lodge with a fucked up nose once after eating shit and the people were so concerned/scared.

You haven't been to DV in the past 4 years. its not a sleeper anymore, no resort in utah is a sleeper.

Every Utah Ski resort could make these type of expansions such a shame this is the one that actually happened.

I can't believe PC/Canyons haven't gone off the back towards Solitude or Alta hasn't circled round the parking lot.

I saw 3800 acres and was like “wtf how?”. Just taking over operations of a resort in development. This is the hack resorts do to get bigger. Whistler, park city, palisades. List goes on.

did anyone see Smugglers notch wants to get a gondola connecting them to Stowe?

that would suck. haven't been to smuggs in years (but will probably this year for a comp) but i feel that would ruin the vibe.

in regards to DV, i'm always interested in expansions even if ill probably never ski them but it's not interesting if it's just that they absorbed mayflower; no new news just new people.

yeah they claimed it was the only way they could compete being a smaller resort. Something about the roads too. I think it is going to get blocked though

Mix of private and public land off back of PC/Canyons. About 12 years ago there were some plans but everything has changed.

This whole project kinda sucks. Huge scar on that side of the mountain but it was already dog shit with insane development around the Jordenelle.

They still have a long way to go. I think 8 lifts are planned for next summer. That’s asking a lot. I personally don’t see that happening. There is not enough staff or production to get that done. Plus that hotel, snowmaking infrastructure and more are a bit away from anything looking like complete.

Also horrible terrain, aspect and elevation.

Utah needs more skiing. I don’t think this was the solution to that….

let me clarify for you eheath because I know you like specifics. It’s sleeper for a ut resort in the terms there’s a lot of beaters but they are skiing groomers.
