omgeeitslexiyea currently i’ve been doing a lot of stuff in the gym to strengthen my core and stretch so i can open up more or just be more flexible for grabs. i’ll start watching ppl near my skill level, and yea i’ll pick up and old pair of skis for learning rails, but mostly interested in kickers tbh
Yeah the gym is important for injury prevention too! Getting good at rails tunes up your feet for performance skiing in a big way. There is a lot of timing involved as well as subtle movements in your toes, ankles etc that will help with your big mountain game too, especially in places where you need to throw your skis sideways or change direction quickly.
I find it can even be easier to dial in spins off rails, as there is so little surface area that it's quite easy to initiate a spin. i.e. it's pretty common for people to learn both way 270s and 450s out before learning 3s both ways on jumps.
