New Freeride Ski

Looking at getting a new freeride ski that I can do a couple tours on a year (70-80% in bounds). Looking to replace the Wrenegade 108's that I love but also tend to kick my ass towards the end of the day. I also think they'd be quite heavy to tour on. Looking to stay in the 105-115 width range and directional too. I already have a CAST set up I'd throw on there. I am looking at some Kore 111's because they are on sale for ~500. Any other recommendations I could maybe find on sale during the summer?

Moment has both wildcat and commander tour blems available for $399 at the moment. Pretty damn cheap to get yourself a dedicated tour set up.

keep the the current skis and add the tours for less than most others.

I woulda recommended kores if you didn’t already mention em, 100% would recommend. Gonna buy 3 pairs of my 105s once mine eventually blow up cause they’re the best ski I’ve ridden.

Where do you see these? Moments site only has sierras in stock on their blem page

It sounds like our Pioneer might suit and we've a 20% off sale going on right now. Theyre a directional twin, 105mm underfoot, 1700g/ski and just over $500 in the sale. I'd even drill them for your CAST system if you wanted.

What you're describing is exactly how i use my personal pair which have CAST on them.

There's so many better options than Kores. They're pretty light skis but I've seen them get chewed up real fast, just from the edges hitting the sidewalls.

The way you guys describe the pioneers it seems to be a much softer (jibby) ski than I am looking for. Do you have any other skis they might compare to?

I have a pair and @oldmanski does too. Definitely not soft and jibby. Pretty damn stout underfoot. Funnily enough, my wife normally skis a Kore 99w and she tried the Pioneer 175 this year. Her first words “it was so stable. I’m used to getting pushed around the bumps in slush but these were just solid and didn’t deflect.” Tips have some play but it quickly ramps up in stiffness. You can’t flex underfoot at all.

I have a 184. I don’t jump in unless I think a ski is the right choice and the pioneer really does sound like what you’re looking for.

What you are describing is the Pioneer. I rode Kartels for the previous 6 seasons and the Pioneers are very similar, just lighter feeling. They are stable and handle everything I ride from bumps, jumps, trees, pow and everything in between. I am super happy with mine.
