Pants for ski and mountaineering

Im searching for preferably softshell pants for mountaineering that can be used as ski pants in the backcountry (ski mountaineering but still use the pants even when i am not skiing down what i climb)

Rab makes some good material pants that are quite breathable and versatile. A bit of bag around the knees but tapered by the boot so you don’t catch crampons.


I recently switched to Flylow’s breathable hard shell for touring. Much better style for my likes but helps you not sweat and freeze. For spring ski mountaineering, I go with more “athletic bag” fit of a soft shell like material and no bibs.

Bump. I have a handful of tours in now with the flylow baker perm bibs and they are by far the best BC/touring pants I have owned.
