help.
I feel really disconnected from the outdoor industry right now, and I’m in search of a new job.

anyone have any outdoor business suggestions that might be hiring someone remotely? Like at this point I don’t even care what….

I'm not much help outside of the Northeast but most of the outdoor jobs I know of are public sector and you just have to go on the states website or find them through each city/municipality itself.

You probably have some skills/experience you can transfer to get hired its cool to pad it and lie a little just start with which state or which town and then look on their website for an outdoor type gig.

There are actually a lot of jobs that are indoors. I have worked outside and inside and I think it’s totally fair to just say I am only working indoors in a climate controlled environment

I’m stuck in the hell hole of Texas for the next little while, is there an outdoor company like rei or backcountry or something that anyone has connections with that would be hiring remote? I want to still be connected but I can’t be in a cool place because this is the cards I’ve gotten dealt right now😵‍💫

Work for the state or your municipality and then look to move in a couple years.

What about law enforcement? Texas is always hiring more cops. You don't do shit other than drive around and watch netflix and give the odd speeding ticket just let people go if they look scary.

Backcountry always has remote, seasonal gearhead jobs. Check their site. I'm sure evo does too. Job sucks but if that's what you want to do, they're always there.

Is there really no shops around you that even sell or work on bicycles or something? I know there are many people in Texas who like the outdoors and it's always more rewarding to be involved in the community where you are.

There is only one way to learn. You'll never learn something new if your attitude is like this.

Aren't you a EMT? Why aren't you pursuing your career? Doing a shit customer service job for a big "outdoor" corp isn't going to keep you "connected to skiing".

Do you have any skills or anything? Post is a bit vague. There's always people hiring for online customer service that you can do remotely, but they pay like shit normally. Like the online gearheads at backcountry. Best to check job boards for large retailers like backcountry, moosejaw, evo etc.


Personally Id just bartend. Good money, keeps you busy, and you get to meet new people all the time.

Working at a bike shop is the way to learn about working on bikes. It's pretty basic mechanical stuff that you can learn fairly quickly and is sooooo useful to be good at. Local bike shops are often a community hub and there is a lot of crossover between people who love biking and skiing.

Yeah, I’m a paramedic. I can’t mentally handle it anymore after everything with my mom.

I do actually. But it’s a sketchy place and I’m trying to quit.

I started a business and am already working 2 other gigs. I just need a little more to hold us over.
