I recommend going to your local Christy Sports or Boot Doctors (owned by Christy Sports) to get their boot fit guarantee and to avoid being oversold by SoreFoot. They probably have some stellar deals going on right now too.

Regardless where you choose to go, just make sure you get a reputable boot fitter.

Yeah that’s where I got my last boots. Dude clearly wanted to get me in a pair and get me outta there. Has anyone had experience with Larry’s in boulder? I know they do vacuum molding or some shit like that, heard some good reviews.

Larry’s is good. They changed ownership recently but Dan and Elaine (new owners) have been Bootfitting for decades and have a ton of cool personal ski adventure experience.

There’s supposed to be a very good bootfitter in telluride in case you are down that way; I’m blanking on the name.

Second the person recommending boot mechanics.

In the winter park area, there is a guy Eric at a shop called Local Experience. If you look on Yelp/google reviews, he gets a hard time for being condescending, but if you’re able to work with him he does a good job. He’s done a bunch of work on two pairs of boots I bought elsewhere. I have also heard good things about Le Foot Lab, though I haven’t purchased from them myself.

Two other things to consider: 1) getting a really good footbed can sometimes be a saving grace. I’ve had one built at boot mechanics and one built at local experience and they’ve changed the way that boot fit completely. 2) there’s a bit of an art to working with a really good boot fitter — make sure they really understand what you’re feeling especially if it’s not right.

nope. I’ve only had bad experiences with larsons and they sold my friend a boot that ended up being a size and a half too big and when he went in to get a refund or trade for a correct boot size they said no.

Idk about you but the best boots I get are at a tent sale clearance, or out of a dumpster in Vail. Went to a boot fitter years back for Full Tilts, paid MSRP, they put a rod under the toes of the ski boots to stand on cuz you gotta be fit in your ski racer stance—except I’m not a ski racer, so at the shop they felt good, were heat molded, but once actually on mountain—absolutely awful and uncomfortable. Have been trying to break them in around the house or short ski days for years and finally just gave up and bought a new pair of $
