bogustI didn't know a brand created in 2008 by a conglomerate which specializes in creating soulless ski oriented clothing brands purely to make money was considered "startup"
GMAN_ok mb but why do people hate it

GMAN_ok mb but why do people hate it
bogustpeople dislike it for a variety of reasons but for the most part its because the name is dumb and the cloths are ugly but also they primarily promote the brand through social media and and short form low effort content as opposed to companies people like which run events in the community, sponsor people because they are good at skiing not because of there social media statistics and release long form video parts.
GMAN_Makes sense. And Finally, a reply that isn't telling me to delete my acc lmao.

GMAN_how is it possible to get -15k karma
BradFiAusNzCoCaHere’s the real answer: it’s basically a company that uses cheap materials and drop ships from China. It has seen huge explosion, mostly from casual skiers who think it is the greatest.
Christian_BaleTo be fair, while companies like patagonia and arcteryx use better materials, they do the same shit. Their jackets are made in Vietnam and other southeast Asian countries where workers have limited rights and barely get paid shit. Not exactly dropshipping, but the gear is absolutely not getting manufactured in the US.
From Supply chain managment review:
"Today, Patagonia manufactures outdoor apparel by working with 45 suppliers andfactories. It sources from 14 countries including Vietnam, Thailand, China, Sri Lanka, India, and Bangladesh. The brand runs a complex supply chain."
All their stuff appears to be outsourced. I'm using patagonia as an example because they have a good reputation, especially in regard to environmental concerns.
JalmarKalmarSome of their gear is apparently made in the US.
"we work with factories in the United States as often as we can: In Los Angeles, we continue to work with a variety of suppliers, while at the same time we have long-term factory relationships in Texas and North Carolina."

yaskataPatagonia is american fraud, atleast thats what all the people in europe say. They advertise european brands a lot though. I'm talking not only skiing, but mountaineering aswell. You might have heard about the torrentshell 3L. Yeah, it sucks. Not breathable at all, feels like a coat. And the sizing only works for ppl with like 30% bodyfat. So many better jackets that just arent marketed enough, but the real mountaineers know them. Same thing with Dopesnow. I would say in europe atleast Patagonia is like the dopesnow of mountaineering.
Now about patagonia's ,,enviormental concerns". Man, talk to some real mountaineers - european ones. Read a bit about patagonia from a non-biased source. There is a reason patagonia is only popular in the USA and not anywhere else. They have amazing marketing, not gonna lie, but their customers are all either noobies who just read off the internet and dont talk with pros or the americans who pack 3 jackets, every single one for 600 dollars, just to trek the same shit an average good mountaineer can do with a fucking poncho.

LonelyBecause kids here prefer to buy from (((CORE))) made in Asia companies rather than (((NOT CORE))) made in Asia companies.
It's just a trend thing. If dope snow did a limited drop with Photoshop copy-and-paste prints and one trust fund kid from slc that skis urban the kids would eat it up.
I mean, I hate dopesnow but...
