crayfeddoes skiing get worse when you get older? I'm 18 right now and feeling pretty damn great every time I ski, and I don't want the feeling to ever go away. Is there a way to never age ski wise because I wanna rip at 50
Profahoben_212Coming up on 27 and I'm definitely the far best at actual skiing that I've ever been. However....there is definitely a slow down that happened around 23-24 maybe. Falls hurt far more the next day. Impacts leave me aching for a few days and hard charging crud all day leaves me walking stiff. I don't ski park anymore either due to injuries+having too many concussions.
Also the whole job thing is a limiting factor. I take a lot more thought into what I'm doing/sending because weeks out laying in bed can lose you thousands in pay. And family/mortgage/savings etc are expensive. Not to mention medical bills stacking up when it happens.
. So progress is slower than when I would huck anything off of anything....but it's also more controlled and leads to better skiing all around as there aren't massive leaps in skill that leave other areas lacking.
Sick_BirdOne of my Freeride coaches is 62 and shredding, no signs of slowing down!
fredyferlThe key is to never stop. I've had friends who stopped for a few years and they just dont ski the same anymore. I just turned 28, and while I haven't been that motivated this season, i still skied quite a bit and feel comfortable on my skis as much as I've ever been. I would say with age its the mindset that has changed for me. When i was 20 i wanted to superfed or 2pretz2 any rail i could, but now it's more about doing those tricks when i feel like it. One thing that i feel with age that can suck is the fact that you've been doing it for a long time, so the excitement isn't the same, and for me a lot of my friends don't ski anymore. But the ones that still do it's always fun to see them

hoodratz4737 here. I don't throw down like I used to. But I still ski pretty damn hard and have a fun time.. and if I'm very honest I'm super out of shape I'm trying to fix that right now for next season.
