Ski suggestions for my pops

Need some suggestions NS. My dad is in need of some new skis and my brother and I are plannin on getting him some for his bday. He skis exactly like a dad meaning he prefers groomers and kind of stays within that realm of blue level to black runs. He currently has some salomons that he complains are way too heavy so I think getting him something a little more playful and light would be best. He loves line traveling circus so anything from line would be great just not sure what model would fit

My dad fuckin raves about his enforcers, got him raw pivots to go on em too. His skiing is just railing groomers too.

If it’s gotta be Line, I’d suggest the Sick Day for him. I also don’t know your home mountain tho and the kinda snow he likes to shred.


I could be wrong, but from what you’re saying, he sounds a lil too laid back for Enforcers, not that he couldn’t handle them. But they’re almost more of a Ex-Racer/Hard charger type ski.

I could be wrong, but from what you’re saying, he sounds a lil too laid back for Enforcers, not that he couldn’t handle them. But they’re almost more of a Ex-Racer/Hard charger type ski.


^this right here, enforcers don’t like the rider to relax on them, and they’re really not that playful either, sick days are a pretty similar profile that ride easier and are a hell of a lot more playful

idk how light the line blade is, or playful for that matter, but if all I wanted to do was rail groomers, I would most certainly have a pair.

It’s the 104 free if that matters, he was actually out of skiing for a while too, said he couldn’t keep up and didn’t have fun. He also was on some stiffer factions like 186 length.

got him the shorter version and his fav thing is how stable they are but doesn’t feel like he’s driving the ski hard, the stance and side cut just go great together, if he can demo it OP, send it he might like it.

he might even have 172s, but think it’s 179

My dad was out of skiing for awhile and just skis groomers too. He skis some stiff bamboo carbon boards. I think it also depends on the dads size

a lot of good suggestions here but homie should definitely demo if possible. I know that kinda takes the surprise out of it though. if i had to throw in a suggestion it would be sick day (like some others have mentioned) with griffons, fairly lightweight setup. I've been on season for a season now and they might be worth a peek as well, all their offerings seem quality and lightweight. (have only ridden the kin but i'm so sold on that company, also i rent skis for a living)

Totally not core but I'm going to suggest the Elan Ripstick... probably 96 but I don't know where pops skis. Pair with the Strive 14 for a lightweight do-it-all setup for aging parents everywhere.

All great suggestions. He skies pcmr mainly. Does anyone know anything about the line blades. Seems they're a groomer ski but might be a little too aggressive for a dad.

Dude likes groomed packed runs. He skis canyons side at PCMR mostly and takes things slowly so he doesn't charge super hard

elan ripstick 96. the normal not black edition is pretty soft and easy to flex into a turn but I felt like the 188 still had plenty of backbone for me when I demoed it at copper. blister says the 181 is only 1684g per skis so they are light skis. great do it all ski and if your dad is a ski fan it is also the Glen Plake ski so it has some street cred too

Blades are amazing if you go fast and carve really hard. They don't make much sense if the skier doesn't want to really bend them in turns. I have sakanas and blades, and got my dad some sakanas. He seems to like them on softer East Coast days

My dad's been on Bent 100's for the past 3 years and he absolutely loves them. Really good edge hold for a wood core, light ski, and when he drops into the trees they're super easy to flip around. I think he appreciates that they aren't Blend soft but also not overly stiff. Traditional mount point too. And watching Chris Benchetler on them in the park is pretty sweet.

From Line, Blade Optic 96's are pretty accessible and not terribly heavy. Fun to carve and heavy enough to not get beat up when snow is slushy/slow. To be honest, if I were going to put my own dad on a line ski I'd try him on a Vision 98 or 108. I was on a Vision 98 at Killington for demo's the year they dropped, and I never for one second thought they felt touring-specific. Definitely light, but damper than they have any right to be (not damp overall), and directional enough to enjoy all forwards all the time.
