Norway/Europe Bootfitters

I've had several pairs of boots over the last 3 years, been to 1 "bootfitter", and have had 3 pairs of custom footbeds made, but I still have yet to find a boot that fits properly.

I do think that the majority of my problems stem from the fact that none of the footbeds that were made for me were actually done properly.

I'm based in Norway, and I could be wrong, but I don't believe there are any shops in Norway that are known for their exceptional bootfitting services. There's one shop called 'Vertical Playground' that is extremely popular, but I can't find any specific mention of what their bootfitting services entail. Their website specifies that they are offer bootfitting, but I haven't been able to find any other info besides that.

While I'd prefer to stay in Norway to keep costs down, I'm willing to travel to inside of Europe to find a good bootfitter this fall when stock is at its highest and I will have as many boot options and sizes available to me. I'm eyeballing a shop in Germany called Blacksheep Sports, which seems to have pretty good reviews.

Ideally I want a bootfitter that makes an excellent custom insole, and is confident working with 50/50 hybrid boots. I tour as much as I ride the "resort", and I don't mind carrying the extra weight.

I know that the majority on this forum are based out of North America, but if there's any recommendations for shops in Norway or Europe that would be greatly appreciated.

surefoot at the SNØ facility is one of the best ones in europe. should probably check them out.
got my boots done at lillehammer sport, which i am very happy with.

got my boots done at lillehammer sport, which i am very happy with.


I didn't think Surefoot was at the SNØ facility? I've been to the Atomic Pro Center at SNØ - pretty underwhelming.

I've always thought of Surefoot as a chain store, what makes you say they are one of the best in Europe?

i was mistaken, surefoot is in oslo centrum area. atomic is the one at snø. also good people at atomic. even though it's not huge doesn't mean it's bad.
good bootfitters is hard to find, and i would for sure trust surefoot more than some moron at XXL or sport 1 who doesn't even ski.

where are you located in Norway?

I'm in Troms, so flying to Oslo would be cheaper than flying outside of Norway, but I'm willing to travel. I've already made the trip once down to Oslo, and left with boots that were unusable pretty much.

Surefoot seems to have good reviews, but I feel like they cater towards alpine boots. There's a fine balance between bootfitters at big chain stores that have all the boot options and maybe not the most superb bootfitting, and bootfitters at local family shops that might have fewer boot options but are better at their craft.

oh yeah i see, they might be a bit fixated on alpine skiing, but i'm sure they do a good job, and if traveling somewhere from troms, oslo might be the cheapest option. if you find a way to get to vpg i would say go. my girlfriend worked there for 7 years and trust the shop fully. but then you would have to take the plane to Ålesund or Trondheim and train from there to Oppdal.
platou sport is also very trustable, they have several locations to go to, nothing north of Molde though.

yo if you’re in troms it might be a good idea to go to kiruna and give also höjdmeter a visit. they are super knowledgeable with boots also and one of the best shops in the north.

surefoot is in oslo, not my favorite

atomic is at snø lørenskog, they have been good to me and they are at the top of my list and my goto

"putte" at hafjell is an option

Wherever I end up going to get this done, I'm going to make an extended weekend out of it and stay a couple of days. So having to take a train isn't the end-all-be-all to me.

If I absolutely knew for certain that the bootfitting at VPG is just as good as some of the better shops in the Alps, I would rather go there as that's much cheaper and far less traveling. They have a wide selection of boots that's for sure.

Yeah I've been to Atomic Pro Center at SNØ, was not a good experience. The boots that I got out of that have been worn like 4 times, and I gave up on them - just way too painful. I could've just had the apprentice bootfitter that day, but I'm skeptical to go and give them another shot and walk away once again unsatisfied.

Hafjell does seem to be a proper shop with lots of knowledge, but I get the feeling that they are more focused on alpine boots. Of course this "feeling" comes from what I'm looking at on their website, but I would think they would advertise their ability to fit touring or 50/50 boots if that was a big part of their expertise.
